NEWS EDITION #15 - IDW's TRUE BLOOD ONGOING, VOLTRON RETURNS & HOUSE OF NIGHT HITS COMIC SCENE!

News Edition- Week of November 1st, 2011.


IDW UNLEASES TRUE BLOOD ONGOING SERIES

 IDW has made a reputation for starting their strongest franchises with miniseries and build them up into ongoings, much like what they did for their Transformers and Doctor Who franchises. Now, the HBO sensation, True Blood will follow suit after several well received miniseries to get their own ongoing.  And as many fans of the beloved show have complained about waiting for new stories inbetween seasons. Now with this new ongoing, according to show creator Alan Ball, this new ongoing is a great way to is tell more stories.

   Following the New York Best Sellers numbers the first collection, True Blood: All Together Now and the recently released second edition, True Blood: Tainted Love, the new ongoing series will hit stores in 2012, shortly after their March release of True Blood: The French Quarter.


VOLTRON HITS DYNAMITE IN DECEMBER

 As the race for old properties to become comics continue, Dynamite gives us the legendary 80s property, Voltron in an all new ongoing comic this December. The legendary mecha will receive its own new ongoing series, thanks to writer Brandon Thomas with covers by prolific artist Alex Ross with series artist Ariel Padilla.
   The new series will start with King Zarcon's empire being dwindled down significantly. Yet the old King will unleash a 100 year old secret about Voltron that will shake the Galaxy Alliance. The secret brings down Voltron within hours of possible annihilation of Earth.
   Brandon Thomas has taken the beloved property and reimaged it for a brand new generation.

Dynamite President Nick Barrucci commented on the franchise:

Classic Media and World Events Productions are working with a wide-range of licensing partners to ensure Voltron's success.  With the upcoming cartoon and a feature film in the works, now is the perfect time to launch a Voltron comic book for a new era, which will feature amazing Alex Ross covers! Our acquisition of this incredible brand is another step in Dynamite's exciting growth and builds on the ongoing success of our line."

"I grew up loving the big robots from Japan. And Voltron is one of the coolest-looking of them!"


Voltron # 1 written by Brandon Thomas with art by Ariel Padilla and cover by Alex Ross from Dynamite Entertainment will hit stores this December.


DARK HORSE BRINGS ABOUT THE HOUSE OF NIGHT

    Dark Horse comics are bringing the popular vampire series House of Night series into comic book adaptions. Novelists P.C. & Kristin Casts join screenwriter Kent Dallan in writing the first 5 issue miniseries adaption , also entitled House of Night. According to the scribes, the miniseries will take place after the second novel "Betrayed." The novels, as well as the mini series revolves around a school of newly sired vampires and how they adjust to their new afterlife. What is worse is that one of the main characters, Zoey Redbird, was also given new powers by a mysterious goddess.
     The House of Night miniseries will feature two distinctive ways. The main tale is being drawn by artist Joelle Jones. The secondary parts that include mythology or historic references will have art by multiple artists.
   House of Night #1 written by Kent Dallan, P.C. Casts and Kristin Cast with artwork by Joelle Jones and Karl Kerschl will hit stores November 9th, 2011 for print and digital.
