Marvel Comics announced today that one of their long-running and beloved comics will be "no more", come this December. That ongoing series is "The Amazing Spider-Man".
Current writer, Dan Slott has stated in previous interviews that once the issue is launched, with the issue's "monumental" events that he would have to go into hiding. After this year's Spider-Man centric event, "Ends of the Earth". Dr. Octopus now knows that Peter Parker is the friendly neighborhood wall-crawler, in other words something BIG will happen in this issue.
Here's the solicitation details for the upcoming issues, leading up to the finale:

Will Peter Parker meet the same faith as his Ultimate comics counter-part met in last's year "The Death of Spider-Man" and be killed off? will a long-time supporting character bite the dust? Will Peter Parker retire and give the mantle to the recently introduced sidekick, "Alpha"?
