Disbanded: No Use for a Name (1987-2012)

While it was inevitable, it was confirmed earlier today that long-running Punk band, No Use for a Name was no more due to the passing of Founding member/guitarist/singer of the band, Tony Sly.

The word came from NUFAN's bassist (and original bassist for Face to Face), Matt Riddle during tonight's Macadam Festival in Quebec, stating:

"This is it, this is the last No Use for a Name show ever.... No one wants to do this without Tony"

Tonight's show was both a tribute to the last signer and a fundraiser for the Tony Sly Memorial Fund, a fund to support Mr. Sly's two surviving daughters.

Tony Sly unexpectedly passed away in his sleep on July 31st, 2012. He was 41 years old. He is survived by his wife Brigitte, their two daughters Fiona and Keira, his brothers Mike and Jonathan Sly and his parents Pauline and John Sly.

While they were in recording process for a new record before the untimely passing, the last record from the band was 2008's "The Feel Good Record of the Year" and 2007's "best-of"album "All the best Songs". They were both released on Fat Wreck Records.

Though I'm glad and highly give the surviving members props for respectively ending, the passing of Mr. Sly has been a hard one for me. From one person to another: if your having a bad day, give a listen to their 1999 album "More Betterness!" Trust me, that was a record that helped me out a lot during my high school years.
