Remember when it was announced after the last set of cancellations that DC was sure they were not going to have any more books on the chopping block for the foreseeable future? Well, that future is now.
Reported today over twitter, that Superman Family Adventures, I, Vampire & DC Universe Presents are both getting cancelled. From I, Vampire Josh Fialkov, “It's been an amazing ride. Thanks to all of my collaborators and stay tuned for the kickass conclusion." Yes. While full details have yet to be divulged, the books are indeed being cancelled with the next few months.
And the creative shuffle continues. Brett Booth & Eddy Barrows are switching comics. Yep. Brett Booth will become the main artist on Nightwing while Eddy Barrows takes over as artist of Teen Titans. This makes it the second stint for Barrows as artist on Teen Titans. Jim Zub was to take over Birds of Prey but has now switched over to Amythest writer & Jem creator – Christy Marx. And that is not the only writer that is getting switched out after their first issue. Robert Vendetti will leave
In a recent
interview, DC comics EIC stated that Vendetti has ended up working on another,
unrevealed project in DC. And that shift seems natural, since Lemire &
Fawkes are already writing Constantine .
Vendetti will continue to be writer for Demon Knights though.
Yet, the biggest shake up and potentially great score for DC is that fact that Jim Starlin is taking over Stormwatch. The comic legend writing the Stormwatch title seems like a great move for Starlin as a creator, Stormwatch as a title & DC in general. Starlin’s name on the book will garnish sales. While the book will allow Starlin some creative freedom. What will happen with Starlin hits the book? Not sure. This would be the 4th writer on the book though. Starlin needs to hit the ball out of the park with this book.
So, is what Harris doing for the best of DC or the worst? These changes are interesting. But time will tell.
