FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Bushiroad Announces Cardfight!! Vanguard Team League 2013
Singapore, February 15, 2013 – Bushiroad South East Asia Pte Ltd and Bushiroad USA Inc announced a new Cardfight!! Vanguard tournament series: the Team League 2013. This will be the first ever Bushiroad-sanctioned international team tournaments in Cardfight!! Vanguard.
The Cardfight!! Vanguard Team League 2013 is a three-stage, team tournament campaign running from April through July across the North American, Europe and Asia-Oceania regions.
Players of all ages may form teams, consisting of three members, to face against rival teams in a continental level championship utilizing Bushiroad’s unique three-on-three team tournament format. Participating teams will receive promotional goods unique to Team League 2013.
The tournament structure is split across three phases; open shop qualifiers from April to May, regional qualifiers in selected tournament stores from May to June, and continental finals for each region in end June to July.
Tournament shops currently registered with Bushiroad will be eligible to hold open shop qualifiers.
The open shop qualifiers will be open to all teams across all three regions. These qualifiers will be listed on the Cardfight!! Vanguard website in March 2013. The top placing teams in each shop qualifier will receive an invitation to regional qualifiers in selected tournament stores in their specific regions. Regional qualifier team champions will be awarded with invitations and travel/lodging fees to the continental finals in their region. Second placing teams will only be awarded invitations to the continental finals in each region.
The finals for the North American region will be held in Los Angeles, CA, in July, with a venue to be confirmed. An open qualifier for the Team League will take place the day before the Team League finals (venue and date TBD), for players who have missed their chance on participating in the open shop qualifiers.
The finals for the European region will be held in the United Kingdom in July, with a venue and specific date to be confirmed.
The finals for the Asia-Oceania region will be held in Singapore in end June/early July, with a venue and specific date to be announced. Similar to the North American Team League qualifiers, an open qualifier will take place the day before at the same venue.
More details will be revealed on the Cardfight!! Vanguard website and Facebook pages as the dates draws near.
Bushiroad concluded their first international tournament series: World Championship 2012, in December 2012. The World Championship 2012 focused on individual players. The World Championship 2013 will be held in the latter half of 2013.

The ONLY EXCEPTION to the clan rule is if you are using a "Royal Paladin" deck, you may have up to 10 "Shadow Paladin" cards. That's it. 3 team members. 1 clan per deck. Different clans for each team member. Keep it locked in here as we will continue to follow the rules for the tourney and where the team league will be held.

Card News: Top 4 Cardfight Vanguard North American Finalists REVEALED & Tournament Results

The following comes from Busiroad itself:

Anaheim, CA (Nov. 4, 2012) – Bushiroad USA Inc. concluded its North American Championship for the Cardfight!! Vanguard World Championship 2012 series on Sunday, November 4, following two days of tournaments and special events at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Over 750 players participated in Saturday’s Cardfight!! Vanguard Los Angeles Qualifiers making it the largest North American Cardfight!! Vanguard tournament to date.  Donald Buckley and Masashi Teruyama finished first and second respectively in the qualifiers to capture the last two positions among the 16 finalists competing for the North American Championship, which took place the following day on November 4. Donald Buckley was unable to participate in the finals, and was replaced by third place finisher Austin Pham.

Both Teruyama and Pham joined finalists who had previously topped Cardfight!! Vanguard qualifiers in Toronto, Dallas, Mexico, Seattle, Chicago, New York, and Atlanta. The North American Finals saw Brandon Smith, the first place finisher from Toronto, going undefeated to win the North American Championship. He will be joined by second place finisher, Christopher Sok, third place finisher Gabriel Espinosa de los Monteros Escobedo, and fourth place finisher Raymond Wong, as they represent North America in the Cardfight!! Vanguard World Championship taking place in Tokyo, Japan on December 9.

Other side events included autograph and panel sessions with voice actors Carol-Anne Day and Roger Rhodes from the Cardfight!! Vanguard animated series, and Cardfight!! Vanguard card illustration artist Kazuo Matsushima. Even Bushiroad CEO Takaaki Kidani and Bushiroad SEA President Masayuki Goto actively participated in the festivities facing off against attendees in the Cardfight!! Vanguard Gunslinger event. Also taking place alongside Sunday’s championship was a Cardfight!! Vanguard Team Tournament which drew over 400 participants and saw team TKR ELITE (Jon Hoover, Justin Seo, Chris Todd) finish first.

This is definitely something to behold. A diverse group of players as well as both CEO Takaaki Kidani & Masayuki Goto playing Vanguard has definitely helped give the game and Busiroad a great image. It speaks volumes that two of their top men are playing the game with the fans and how diverse the players are.

We wish the 4 finalists good luck in the World Championship next month.

Cardfight Vanguard Card of the Week 10/17/12

CARDFIGHT VANGUARD CARD OF THE WEEK

MONTH 1, WEEK 3
Grade 2: Blaster Blade
Royal Paladin Clan

Our first month honoring CFV continues as we get to this week's Grade 2 card. And Yes, it should come as no surprise as one of the most well known cards in the franchise, Blaster Blade, gets card of the week. It is to Dark Magician is to Yugi; Blaster Blade is Aichi's favorite card . . . at least for season 1. It has a great look and it is the face of not only the Royal Paladins, but one of the faces of the Vanguard Franchise.

Effects:

When you call Blaster Blade to Rear Guard, by flipping 2 of your damage, you can retire any grade 2 or below rear guard unit your opponent has. Yet, what is even better is that when Blaster Blade is your vanguard, if you pay 2, you can retire any of your opponents rear guard; no matter the grade. Pretty damn powerful card, yes? No wonder Aichi loves it.

Blaster Blade is one of the main cards in the franchise; so, he has a LOT of supporting cards. For instance, Wingal gives extra power when you use him to support Blaster Blade. Future Knight Lou can call and superior ride him if you also have Barcgal and Flogal out and put all 3 of those cards into the soul. Even cards like Alfred Early and Solitary Knight Gancelot have more effects if you have Blaster Blade in your soul. This card is very useful. And currently, depending on the edition ... VERY EXPENSIVE. Still, a great card for the Royal Paladins to have as their spokesman.

Comic/Card News: Spiderman Cardfight Vanguard Unit Confirmed With Amazing Spiderman Blu Ray

Recently  announced during the Tokyo Game Show, Busiroad has worked out that there will be a special Spiderman Cardfight Vanguard Card with the Japanese release of the Amazing Spiderman Blu ray and DVD. Spidey will be part of his own clan known as the Etangers and will have a similar effect as Thunder Break Dragon: a Limit Break that gives him 5000 more attack points and a Counter Blast of 2 which will retire a Grade 2 or lower unit. This card is perfect to use with either the Narukami or Kagero clans, which are played by Cardfight Vanguard character, Toshiki Kai.

Spider-Man
Grade 3 / Twin Drive!!
10000 Power / 1 Critical / 0 Shield
Etranger / Human
[AUTO] (VC): Limit Break 4 (This ability is active if you have four or more damge): When this unit attacks a vanguard, this unit gets +5000 [Power] until end of that battle.
[AUTO]: [Counter Blast (2)] When this unit is placed on [a Vanguard Circle], you may pay the cost. If you do, choose an opponent’s Grade 2 or less rear-guard and retire it.

So take that Yugioh. You might have a card maker with fake cards of heroes but CFV beat you to the punch by making a real, official card of a super hero character.

Card News: Mis-print in Vanguard Card: Dark Lord of The Abyss

As recently stated in the Official Cardfight Vanguard USA Facebook page, there has been an error with one of the new cards that have come out of the latest booster pack: Rampage of the Beast King. Here is the letter from Busiroad:

Dear Players, please note that there is an error print in one of the cards in Booster Pack Vol. 7 Rampage of the Beast King.

We apologize sincerely for the mistake and inconvenience caused.

Card No: BT07/005EN Dark Lord of Abyss

Error:
ACT【V】: Limit Break 4 (This ability is active if you have four or more damage): [Counter Blast (2)] Soul Charge (2), and this unit gets Power +1000 for each «Dark Irregulars» in your soul.

Correct:
ACT【V】: Limit Break 4 (This ability is active if you have four or more damage): [Counter Blast (2)] Soul Charge (2), and this unit gets Power +1000 for each «Dark Irregulars» in your soul until the end of your turn.

For more details on errata cards, please visit http://cf-vanguard.com/en/howto/errata-cards/.

So keep an eye out for this card. No further news about a reprint but if it is reprinted, the value of the card would definitely go up.  And considering it is already a triple rare, that is saying something.
