A Week Unlike Any Other Part 2: The Avengers Review

Okay, before this even starts, let's get something answered. Do you like fun? I mean, do you REALLY like fun? If so, thenThe Avengers is just your type of film.
Good God, where to begin? There is so much amazing to this movie, it's hard to judge it. the whole cast is superb. All the in-fighting makes perfect sense considering the personalities involved, particularly Tony Stark or Tony Snark as he could be called, considering the sheer amount of witty retorts and dialouge that run through him. One of the biggest and most pleasent surprises is Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner. He may not look the role as much as the rest of the cast but he nails the conflict of being Banner while still having the ability to be humorous, if he feels it. That's pretty true of how Banner is now in the comics. No wonder Marvel signed Ruffalo to a six picture deal. Not to mention this may very well be the best Hulk in all of media. Really, only the comics and the version on Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes compares.
Alan Silvestri's score is almost literally the stuff heroes are made of. It fits so perfectly with the mood, it's almost hard to notice it. The effects work is maybe the only part of the film that is even remotely lagging but the different ways that they utilize what can be done is what makes it look good.
This film is also, oddly enough, incredibly funny. The characters bouncing off each other is where the film really shines. Watching them cut each other down a little is quite amusing. that said, it's still an epic action film and boy oh boy, does it deliver. The hero vs hero fights are plenty invigorating but the most definitely saved the best stuff for the third act. It's actually quite reminiscent of last summer's Transformers: Dark of The Moon finale minus the military concentration and more on the characters we actually care about. Speaking of concentration, I will admit that Iron Man gets a bit more screen time than the other characters but not much. It should be expected really. Iron Man is the breakout character of the Marvel Movie-verse.
Overall, The Avengers not only proves that you can make a great film with continuity, accurate costumes, and true to source characters, but that you can make it very accessible too.
Oh! As always, stick around after the credits. You will not be sorry. Of all the Marvel Movie post credit scenes, this is easily the most earth shattering one since Tony Stark was informed about the Avengers Initiative at the end of Iron Man. Let's just say that any question on how they could possibly top themselves has already been answered.
