The Lost Review of Super Fighting Robot Week: Snakeman

Okay so in the last video I said it was the last robot master well I also had one more robot master but I didnt have the missile until now.

Sorry for the long hiatus.  I have been busy the last week or so and then I got a cold which didnt help.  Today I do feel a lot better so I decided to finally bring out the "Lost Review of Super Fighting Robot Week."  The only reason I say the lost review is because the robot master I reviewed didn't have the missile at the time.  Now that I do I can finally give you a review of the robot master Snakeman.  Snakeman was the most seen robot master besides the main trio and he is a pretty cool robot master as well.  He had a stereotypical snake like rasp but at least he wasn't that annoying overall.  The figure itself though has a slight stability issue because of the heavy weight of his snake hair piece causing him to topple over.  The snake missile is actually one of the best looking missile design and it really helps the figure look even better then it does.

Super Fighting Robot Week: Brightman

This is the last day of Super Robot Fighting week and the last robot master to review is Brightman.  He is a strange looking one and he has a blaster he never used in the show which is really stupid.  Not to mention his power wasn't that great either.  He is in my opinion the weakest of the line so its a hit or miss if you want to add him to your collection.   Ironically I did get him with the box which I didn't bother showing although it might have been nice to do so.  I have one more robot master named Snakeman but he didn't come with his missile so I didn't review him but I did mention him in the review.  To make it short Snakeman is a pretty cool figure too but it would have helped if he had his missile.  There is one last figure in the line named Elecman but he is a pain to get due to his price so I didn't get him yet.

Super Fighting Robot Week: Bombman

This is day six of Super Robot Fighting Week and with one day left we now take a look at Bombman. He actually is a pretty cool looking robot although he ended up being most of comedic value of the episodes he appeared in due to the fact he got blown off by his own bomb more then half the time. The Oklahoma bombing really did effect the rarity of this figure and it also probably caused the disappearance of another robot master that was to appear in the series named napalman. This particular figure can be hard to find and the price can pretty steep but if you can find a good deal go for it.

Super Fighting Robot Week: Drillman

This is day 5 of Super Robot Fighting week with only two more robot masters to go.   Drillman is okay but not the best design of the robot masters out there.  He didn't have much speaking lines and he didn't that much in the show to begin with.  He did show a little more in season 2 but I don't remember how many times since I still don't own a season 2 dvd.   Drillman is actually in series two and I made a mistake saying he has the same leg joints since it can only do a full 360 turn and not move like the other figures.  He kind of made up for that with both arms turning but I don't know how much it benefits it with the legs not being that poseable.

Super Fighting Robot Week: Gutsman

We are now on day 4 of Super Fighting Robot week and this time its the review on Gutsman.   I always liked gutsman even in the video game and I am glad to have a figure of him.   I do wish he came with the brick instead of the fire hydrant as it not only looks stupid in Megaman's blaster but it just doesn't work too well with Gutsman either.  He is the last of the main three that Dr. Wily Summons in every episode and he is an okay figure.   His gimmick works for him but it does slightly hinder him a bit in terms of articulation.

Super Fighting Robot Week: Cutman

The third day of Super Fighting Robot Week is Cutman, He is really simplistic in design but it does work out for him. I would have preferred if it came with an extra cutter blade like the one on his head and a blaster that he could fire the blade from but oh well. He is recommended to get cause not only is he one of the main 3 that always got sent out but because he is a pretty cool figure.

Super Fighting Robot Week: Protoman

This is day 2 of Super Fighting Robot Week with Protoman.  He is Megaman's brother who was created by Dr. Wily.  His scarf can be very fragile if you are not careful as it may tear if you pull on it hard enough.   He is basically a "copy" of megaman in the way of how he is built.  In the video games he usually is a good guy though who carries and shield and at times has a flute playing his theme.   He too different to Megaman so if you like Protoman more or if you want to get him along with his bro I recommend him.

Super Fighting Robot Week: Megaman and Rush

Hello readers I did a full week of reviews about the rare Megaman figures made from Bandai and I decided to post them here.

Hello readers I did a full week of reviews about the rare Megaman figures made from Bandai a while back
This is the first part of Super Fighting Robot Week with the main characters of the show Megaman and Rush. At first I didn't think think of the title which is why it wasn't mentioned in the review but I will mention it in the following reviews of the week. This video was suggested by Eugene42181 and Wheelchair21 because they told me there is a large fanbase for Megaman. These are action figures that was released in the 90s with pretty cool sculpting and cool accessories. Its a shame they only made some of the robots in the show as the show got cancelled after season 2. I am surprised how well these figures are made and the features they have actually work really well for them.

Tamashii Nations Day One Part 2

Due to the massive amount of news I decided to put the rest of day one news into a separate post.  Well lets get this started.

First we will finish off the remaining Figuarts that were announced later on the first day.  We can see a bunch of Kamen Rider Bikes which are the Ride Shooter (Ryuki), Den Bird (Den-O), Blade Spader (Blade), the original Cyclone (Ichigo), and the Zero Horn (Zeronos).  I personally dont collect the bikes because of their prices and that they take up too much space but its nice Bandai made these to go alongside the riders.  There were also special announcements of Iron Man and War Machine.  This is strange because Max Factory was already going to be making the Avenger Figmas but I guess you can't have too much Robert Downey Jr.  The last SHFs that were shown were other characters from Akibaranger such as Aoi-Chan and Delu Knight.

Mewtwo isn't the only D-Art that was shown at Tamashii Nations.  We also got a look at the final evolutions of the main three starters from Kanto; Charizard, Blastoise, and Venusaur. Its great too see that they are finally going to make some more Pokemon D-Arts and I am curious what else they are going to bring out in the line. The Pokemon D-Arts weren't the only new D-Arts that were announced.  Megaman Fans should be happy to see that Bass and Tremble were announced as well.  Also in the picture though we can take a glimpse of the alternate Megaman forms that he becomes when he uses the other robot masters' powers.  Source: TokuAnimeNews via Rangerboard/ Tokunation

JUSTICE SOCIETY RIDES AGAIN IN 2012

This past weekend in Fan Expo, DC Comics announced that fan favorite series Justice Society WILL return coming 2012. This time, the Justice Society will be brought back by writer James Robinson and artist Nicola Scott. Didio, Robinson and others in DC's editorial revealed that the fan favorite book would return but in Earth-2, allowing for more characters in Justice Society.  Didio explained that they wanted to be sure that if they brought back the Justice Society, they would do it right.
The setting of Earth -2 will allow for more of the characters that were long dead for Robinson to use to create a new rich trapestry.  More on Robinson's & Scott's JSA book as it becomes available.

ALPHA FLIGHT UPGRADES TO ONGOING

Often times these days in the comic book industry, we have seen many an ongoing series become a miniseries due to low sales; Marvel's Thor: The Mighty Avenger being one of the most recent examples of this. With impressive sales since it's 0.1 issue came out, the latest version of Alpha Flight is doing what has not been done in years . . . going from a mini series to a full fledged ongoing series.
So yes, instead of 4 of 8 . . . it will be just issue #4 and so on and so forth for as long as the titles sales do as well as they have been doing. And now that Alpha Flight is now an ongoing series, writers Fred Van Lente and Greg Pak will be showing us how the once proud team of super heroes have to deal with things as fugitives in their own country  and more.
Fred Van Lente describes a little more about the plans with Alpha Flight now that it is an ongoing series:

It's very different to go from a book that has two main characters, to a book that has, I think at last count, about 17,000 major characters. All with their own distinct storyline. So it's very cool that everybody's now going to get the room they need to have their stories property laid out. We have this storyline of Jeanne-Marie taking over Aurora's body, and Walt Langowski seemingly can't turn into Sasquatch anymore. And how did Puck get out of Hell? And what really is going on with Heather Hudson? Because there's clearly something very wrong with her, but we don't quite know what it is yet. That is to say, you don't. Greg and I know.  It's very cool, because it lets us tell even more of the story we were going to tell anyway. And there was inklings of this happening even really before the first issue came out, so fortunately Greg and I were able to have this in the back of our minds.

Pak adds:

We're good at working towards different eventualities. If the book had ended as scheduled with issue #8, we were perfectly fine with that. It would have been a great eight-issue maxiseries. But we always have that "B" plan in the back pocket, and it's very fun to be able to shift that into the "A" plan category.

There's a way in which what's happening in Canada, as the story progresses, the rest of the Marvel Universe is going to become aware of exactly what's going on and will take an interest. We're going to be able to explore much more deeply how what's happening in Canada affects the Marvel Universe, and how the rest of the Marvel Universe is going to affect our characters. That is an opportunity to really open up the canvas a lot, and having the book turn into an ongoing absolutely with help with that.

The two writers confirmed that they will explore the characters, including how Puck got back from Hell and more on the Unity storyline. Artist Dale Eaglesham, a Canadian himself, has been enjoying the book and will stay on as regular penciler to the newly elongated series. Pak and Lente also promised guest stars from all over the Marvel Universe, including the Commonwealth of Heroes, Captain Britain & MI:13 and, of course, Wolverine.
Alpha Flight is written by Greg Pak & Fred Van Lente with art by Dale Eaglesham in available from Marvel Comics.

GATES OPENS KIRBY'S UNIVERSE WITH CAPTAIN VICTORY

Dynamite Entertainment recently released a new book featuring a whole new universe that was created by comic book legend, Jack Kirby. Now Dynamite is preparing to release a second series as writer Sterling Gates takes on one of Kirby's oldest, non Big 2 works in the form of Captain Victory.
Captain Victory features adventures of the Galactic Rangers, a police force that preserve peace and maintain order throughout the cosmos, lead by the title character, Captain Victory.
Yet, Gates recently stated in an interview that these Galactic Rangers are NOT like the Green Lanterns or the Nova Corps.

They have a sense of honor, yes, but they’re far more soldier-like than the Green Lanterns. They’re not going to detain you if you try to shoot them, they’re going to fire right back, and they’re going to shoot to kill. Know what I mean? They’re soldiers doing their best to protect the galaxy from harm, and Captain Victory in particular will go to great lengths to make sure evil doesn’t spread out and overtake everything. As you see in the first issue, he’s willing to go to greater lengths than even his fellow Rangers would like...

Gates added that he plans to really give readers a look into Captain Victory and the characters themselves while exploring this new, vast universe that has been untouched for decades. And while the writing style is different, Gates promises to keep the enthusiasm of the original work:

Every panel of his Captain Victory series seems to be shouting at you with this lyrical excitement. The style played big back then, but I think comics have changed pretty drastically. The way we write and read comics has changed. Readers don’t seem to respond as well to the crazed narration style that Kirby used. If anything, people read that kind of thing as “retro-pastiche,” and I didn’t want to write the book that way. I wanted to tell these big, space operatic stories using a modern comic style, so that it appeals to any modern reader.

Captain Victory is written by Sterling Gates with art by Wagner Reis from Dynamite Entertainment.

Yes. You are reading right. CBC is doing a special project in honor of the massive relaunch of books from DC Comics this September. This is historic. And we want to know how you feel about the books. Yeah you! Not the person to the left. No, no the midget who stole your girlfriend. Not your parents. And don't worry, CBC and many of the J1 staff themselves will be weighing in their own opinions come September.

So if you are interested in take 1 book or more, reading it and giving us an honest opinion other than just "It's sucks!" or "It's awesome!", please feel free to email us at francisco.k.rodriguez@gmail.com and state which book or books you will give opinions on. NEWS EDITION #2 - THE MIGHTY, UDON's MEGAMAN &STREET FIGHTER HARDCOVERS, NILES' 30 DAYS ONGOING And ENNIS' STITCHED

Welcome again to CBC's NEWS EDITION! Here, J1 gives you the news that you need for your comic book addiction.

FEAR ITSELF: THE WORTHY VS . . .THE MIGHTY!

As we all know, Marvel's current event, Fear Itself has already been gaining a lot of press with its globe shaking attacks and the death of Bucky Barnes, the current Captain America. The Worthy, composed of villains and Heroes of the Marvel Universe, are the lead Generals of the evil Asgardian God of Fear's army. Sin (aka the new Red Skull), Juggernaut, Absorbing Man, Titania, Attuma, Grey Gargoyle, the Hulk and the Thing. (Yes  . . . Bruce Banner and Ben Grimm fell under the sway of the power of the Serpent, the Asgardian God of  Fear).
And while Odin is making Asgard a war machine to purge the Earth, a new group is coming in to stop the Serpent and his Worthy. Look at the first teaser of  THE MIGHTY . . .

The Mighty are slated to make their debut in Fear Itself #6 . . .

Okay folks. Some of these are REALLY apparrent while others are not. So let's do with some interesting guesses shall we:

EDITORIAL GUESSES ON THE MIGHTY:

Let's go with the easy ones that are apparent: Ms. Marvel with that BIG AXE, Iron Fist, Hawkeye

Not so apparent: The one on the far right is probably Spiderman, the one with his legs out is probably Wolverine, the one coat and holding a staff is probably Stephen Strange, the one in the middle is either Iron Man, War Machine or Pepper Pots aka Rescue.

Leaving the last two, which seem to be females . . . that are NOT apparent either. The One with a large sword could possibly be a She- Hulk or a taller woman .. . but if its not a girl, which I am pretty sure it is, that opens the door to a LOT of possibilities.  Same with the woman between Wolverine (?) and Hawkeye. Spiderwoman? Mockingbird? Jessica Jones - Cage?  (which I am hoping for)

Either way we are looking at it, we will see what the Mighty can do against the Worthy coming Fear Itself #6 & #7.  Plus, just note that Brian Michael Bendis, who is writing both Avengers and New Avengers, has stated  that there would be some MAJOR roster shake ups for both groups and we may be looking at the beginning of it here. Find out this September.  Fear Itself is written by Matt Fraction with art by Stuart Immonen from Marvel Comics.

AVENGERS 1959 BY CLAYKIN COMING THIS OCTOBER

With the recent success of the storyline in New Avengers issues #9-13, iconic comic book creator Howard Claykin is gearing up to give us more of the Avengers Intitiative team he created alongside Brian Michael Bendis. The 5 issue mini series will be written and drawn by Claykin himself, featuring Nick Fury's Avengers team he formed during the aforementioned storyline which includes: Dum Dum Dugan, Kraven the Hunter, Namora, Silver Sable's father, Mr. Amos Forture, Bloodstone, Sabertooth and Fury himself.
For the new miniseries, Claykin stated that it will pick up where the New Avengers storyline left off and that there will be some changes in the line up.

CLAYKIN
Yes. I opted to lose Bloodstone and Silver Sable, because I felt that they were a bit redundant to what we were doing. We needed something a little more different. I added the Blonde Phantom, who I've always wanted to use. The rest remains the same.

The Blonde Phantom is a character from the 40's who is "a gun toting hot babe". As she rounds out the team, they will face an overt threat and a more hidden threat during the miniseries, says Claykin and promises to add on to the relationships and interactions first forged during the storyline.  Look for Avengers 1959 # 1 to hit stores this October.

DIDIO WANTS 80 TITLES, DC'S SECOND WAVE?

With  52 # 1s slated for September, there have been characters missing. And with the missing characters, there have also been missing creators. DC recently shed some light on that mystery, revealing that there will be more titles to come. Didio stated that he wanted to have up to 80 titles coming out monthly, that includes the titles from Vertigo and the kiddy books; which leaves some room for possibilities.

Yet there has been some confirmations. Batman Beyond will return with a new ongoing, written by Adam Beechem. Whether Ryan Benjamin will return to pencil is anyone's guess but Batman Beyond will be leading the pack alongside Superman Beyond & Justice League Beyond.

Also confirmed to come out in October:

Penguin: Pain and Prejudice #1 by Gregg Hurwitz and Simon Kudranski

The Huntress # 1 by Paul Levitz, Marcus To and John Dell.

A few other possibilities have not been fully hammered down but there was some confirmations on projects: James Robinson has already written several issues of a new series, which we believe to be the new Shade series; A new Batman Odesssey by Neal Adams, My Greatest Adventure from Kevin Maguire, T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents by Nick Spencer. Plus Nicola Scott, Amanda Conner, Scott Kollins and Phil Jimenez all have projects set to debut soon, but without release dates and confirmations of what they are . . . YET. With San Diego Comic Con around the corner, we will definitely see what the future holds. And promises of Batman Incorporated will hit in 2012.

Didio went on record during a tour stop a couple weeks ago in Dallas stating that he wants 80 titles and if a title is doing bad, they will NOT hesitate to cut it. This is all turning into one huge gamble. More on these upcoming titles in weeks to come.

NILES TO RETURN FOR IDW'S 30 DAYS OF NIGHT ONGOING
