The Armor Hunters are back for Aric. What steps have they taken to eradicate the X-O Manowar?

Story
A spoiler free summary. The Armor Hunters power have been felt by the people of Earth as an entire city has been decimated. The United States government and other governments have been trying to come up with a response to combat the aliens. A team looks to be forming and Aric learns more about the properties of the armor thanks to experiments, properties that seem to be tied to the whole reason these Armor Hunters do what they do.
The story in this issue does a great job of showing just exactly what the stakes are and why these Armor Hunters should be taken deadly seriously. Destroying an entire city just one of the things they do to show they are on a completely different level than what the world has seen before. The reactions and the planning by the people trying to defend Earth show this as even the most stoic of people get emotional during this issue. Touches like that make the characters more relatable and I give Venditti credit for that.
Art
The art is very detailed and has some grittiness to it but still seems clean as well. Nothing seems out of focus are hard to identify. Which is perfect for this kind of book which seems to be a bit dark yet doesn't lose it's soul as a story about heroes.
Verdict
With a relatable cast of characters, and destructive events that aren't really battles but does count as action, that is intriguing and captivating I give Armor Hunters # 2 a 9.5 out of 10.

Armor Hunters # 2 Review
ARMOR HUNTERS # 2Written by Robert Venditti
Art by Doug Braithwraite & Laura Martin
Lettering by Dave Sharpe
Valiant Comics
This is a Spoiler Free review!
M.E.R.O.,
Aric and Livewire see the devastation of Mexico City from the Armor Hunters as
Primary lays out his demands. Bloodshot
gets up to speed as The Armor Hunters break out the Hounds … attacking seven
places at once.
ART:
ART:
The
art in this issue is some of Braithwraite’s best in his career. The smooth
lines and the polished pencils and inks really stand out this issue. Every
panel is full of great detail, expression and a vibrancy that goes beyond his
normal work. Braithwraite goes through great perspectives with all the
characters, give the panel just the right tone for every scene in the book. The
battles are GLORIOUS. And there is one panel with Ninjak having a “holy Sh**”
moment that was just captured so well.
Laura Martin’s colors really brings out the best of Braithwraite’s art,
making it so dynamic that it will grab your face to the page from start to
finish. Gorgeous art indeed.
WRITING:
WRITING:
Venditti makes this second issue
build up the event to a great explosion. There are personal stakes for Aric and
Livewire. Bloodshot gets inserted into the event well. We get some very
personal moments with the Armor Hunters, particularly Primary that continue to
let us know more of our “villains” of our event. Venditti weaves the plots and
characterizations so well that it only heightens the events in the issue. And
man … the stakes are VERY high at this point. The danger is palapable. And we
get some great revelations as Venditti sets up the next issue as well. FINAL VERDICT:
This issue was amazing from start
to finish. The art was superb. The writing was exquisite. THIS is how event
books should be written. I am definitely
all in on this event as it continues. I give Armor Hunters # 2 a solid 5 … out of
5!

Straight Forward Reviews : X-O Manowar # 26
The latest issue of X-O Manowar takes a break from Aric and goes into the backstory of some other characters, one which you have already seen another which you'll definitely see more of.
Writer - Robert Venditti
Art - Diego Bernard
Publisher - Valiant
Review by Jeremias de Leon
Story
The story is an issue long flashback that gives the motivations for at least two of the Armor Hunters. The story reads a little bit like a typical sci-fi story. The bar where a good chunk of the set up for the battle and the set up for the next story during the end, and the technology used during the battle scenes gave a bit of a Mass Effect vibe.
Still though the characters were written very well and the events, though with plenty of science fiction elements still had a gritty, grounded feeling as the characters Malgam and Reebo felt fear and desperation in their fight.
Art
Diego Bernard's line-art has beautiful details and a sense that everything shown is actually alive and part of an actual world, or in this case, universe. Brian Reber's colors add to that and totally make the moods the comic was going for in the different scenes.
Verdict
The world for this flashback or prequel or whatever you may want to call it did seem like plenty of other science fiction space opera stories. But the characters were well written enough and the action was cool enough that it was still a fairly enjoyable read. I give X-O Manowar # 26 an 8 out of 10

THE GOOD:
Braithwaite
really delivers some of his best art ever with this issue. The panels are nice,
detailed and full of life … even when someone is getting killed. There are some
really good panel work that allows the pictures to tell the story with little help
of dialogue or shows mannerisms that reveals the personality of a character.
Alongside Martin, Braithwaite fully realizes his art with some vivid colors and
a great amount of touch up to each character to give texture.
Venditti
does a lot of set up this issue for the beginning of a very high stakes game
with the Armor Hunters. He gives us some good moments with Aric, who is
primarily affected. Yet, we do get a good glimpses of the personalities of our
main antagonists. Dialogue is strong
without treating readers as if they are stupid. And Venditti makes sure that
this first issue had enough impact that it will indeed affect the rest of the
planet. A great opening for this new event.
THE BAD:
THE BAD:
Nada.
THE VERDICT:
THE VERDICT:
Honestly,
this was an amazing opening. While the rest of the Valiant Universe isn’t
involve yet, Venditti plants the seeds to make sure they are involved. I do
love that we are seeing different facets of the Armor Hunters themselves. And
that not everything is as black and white as it may be. It’s a solid read.
I give Armor Hunters # 1 a 4.5 out of 5.

X-O Manowar # 25 Review
Written by Robert Venditti, Justin Jordon & Andy
Runton
Art by J.G. Jones,Bryan Hitch, Diego Bernard, Barry
Kitson, Andy Runton, Rafer Roberts & more
Valiant Comics
This will be a spoiler free review.
This will be a spoiler free review.
Multiple
stories happen throughout the issue. We get a quick look at Aric’s origin as
X-O Manowar to him paying respects to a prelude to Armor Hunters starting the
team with the same name to the armor having its own little adventure to a small
crossover between Valiant Characters. This
issue seemed to have a little of everything to celebrate X-O Manowar’s and
Valiant’s relaunch anniversary.
THE GOOD:
A
lot was packed into these pages and it definitely felt worth it. We got some
great personal development for Aric as we see him pay his respects to one of
his fallen relatives. Venditti definitely uses loss and mourning a lot this
issue to kind of set up transitions, not only for Aric but for the Armor
Hunters as well. Venditti takes time to not only do more set up for the Armor
Hunters event, but also gives us some solid characterization of the Armor
Hunters team.
All
of the stories and segments were paced well, allowing each writer to give their
own spin on things. And while the other stories didn’t do character building,
they were fun in their own way.
Artistically,
you have so many styles in there that it really is a feast for the eyes. To
classic comic book strip cartoony to Hitch’s hyper detailed style, there is a
buffet of art that surrounds you this issue. Hitch and Bernard have the most
significant portions and do a great job showing of their art. This book looks
and feels fun while giving strong characterization and great art.
THE BAD:
Nada.
Zero. Zilch.
FINAL VERDICT:
X-O
Manowar # 25 was a strong, fun anniversary issue with great art and excellent
story. The varied amounts of stories and extras make the book fun of value and
it was great to see so much talent within the book do so many different things. I give X-O Manowar # 25 5 stars out of 5.

X-O MANOWAR # 24Written by Robert Venditti
Art by Diego Bernard, Alison Rodriguez & Brian Reber

FLIPPING THROUGH:
This
issue went by fast with great action and ground work as Aric faces off against
Malgam. After his battle, we get more of Aric’s current status quo.
ART:
ART:
Diego
Bernard and Alison Rodriguez do a beautiful job this issue. The panels are
crisp with solid art, great inking and good perspectives. We open the issue
with some good action as Aric takes on Malgam. Bernard and Rodriguez gives us a
grand battle. Then, later on, when things get quiet at the second half of the
issue. From Aric talking with Colonel Capshaw to his camp in Nebraska, Bernard
and Rodriguez do a wonderful job showing us the quieter moments, drawing good
emotion and great backgrounds. Just the
look on Aric’s face on the facet was priceless and really shows the skill this
team has. Reber delievers some of his best colors yet, making Bernard and
Rodriguez’s work look even more amazing and vibrant. A beautiful drawn issue.
Bernard will be one of the biggest names in comics if he keeps this up.
WRITING:
WRITING:
Venditti
gives us a great, balanced issue between action and character development. The
fight with Malgam goes as long as it needs to, with leaving Aric with enough
mysteries to search out. Yet, Venditti
also does a great job giving us enough of a prelude to Armor Hunters at the end
there with some members of that team. Giving us hints to what will come without
completely spoiling it, I give Venditti kudos for that. Plus, the scene between
Aric and Saana in their tent was one of the most powerful scenes in this series
yet. Venditti makes the reader remember to not take things for granted … like
water and the reactions by both characters really carried along the point that
Aric loves his people more than anything.
The dialogue was good and the pacing was great. Overall, Venditti proves himself among the best writers in the business now with this issue.
OVERALL IMPRESSION:

well written, beautifully drawn issue that both hints at what’s to come while
still giving us development and beauty.

First Look: ARMOR HUNTERS #1 – ROBERT VENDITTI and DOUG BRAITHWAITE Launch X-O MANOWAR into the VALIANT Crossover Epic of 2014!
On June 11th, Earth will be the greatest hunt of all!
Valiant is proud to present an advance preview of ARMOR HUNTERS #1 (of 4) – the FIRST ISSUE of Valiant's action-packed summer crossover event by New York Times best-selling writer Robert Venditti(X-O Manowar, Green Lantern) and superstar artist Doug Braithwaite (Unity, Justice)! Featuring an armor-plated, wraparound Chromium cover by red-hot artist Jorge Molina (X-Men), this is the best chance yet to jump into the world of Valiant's chart-topping heroes – just as X-O Manowar goes to head-to-head with a team of hardened hunter-killers with a closely guarded link to the very origins of his armor.
When Aric of Dacia returned to Earth with the stolen X-O Manowar armor of an alien race, he thought he finally found a weapon to guard the peace and kingdom he’d struggled so long to secure. But now, a relentless and surgical strike team from the farthest reaches of space – sworn to exterminate the armor and all like it – have found their final target. The ARMOR HUNTERS are coming. They will hunt. They will trap. They will kill. And they will rid the universe of the X-O Manowar’s incalculable destructive power…even if it means taking the Earth with it.
"The Hunters have been hardened by a long and difficult campaign against the Manowar armors," writer Robert Venditti told USA Today. "They don't come to Earth to make friends or forge alliances. They come to finish the fight."
In the tradition of the universe-shaking HARBINGER WARS, Valiant’s biggest heroes begin the year's blockbuster crossover event right here in ARMOR HUNTERS #1 (of 4) – and then launch the resistance against the world’s first full-scale cosmic threat with new arcs beginning in UNITY #8 and X-O MANOWAR #26 in June; and ARMOR HUNTERS: BLOODSHOT #1 (of 3) and ARMOR HUNTERS: HARBINGER #1 (of 3) beginning in July – each featuring one of five wraparound Chromium covers by some of the biggest talents in comics today!
Retailers will be eligible to “Unlock Chromium” based on their orders of ARMOR HUNTERS #1 (of 4), UNITY #8, X-O MANOWAR #26, ARMOR HUNTERS: BLOODSHOT #1 (of 3), and ARMOR HUNTERS: HARBINGER #1 (of 3). After “unlocking” each separate title, qualifying retailers may order as many Chromium editions of the corresponding title as they like. Retailers be advised: due to the lead time needed to manufacture this special cover process, print runs for all five ARMOR HUNTERS CHROMIUM EDITIONS have already been set. Supplies are robust but limited, and allocations may occur. If allocations do occur, they will be made based on initial orders.
This summer, bend the knee…or take the head when Valiant brings the deadly legacy of the X-O Manowar armor down full bore on planet Earth, beginning on June 11th in ARMOR HUNTERS #1 (of 4)!
