THIS WEEK IN AWESOME # 5

And welcome to another edition of where we point out the coolest scenes in comics we found this week. Here we go:

CBC Hector Ramirez:

My awesome moment this week comes from Superboy # 6. Fed up with being used as a pawn in N.O.W.H.E.R.E.’s game, Superboy flips their surveillance van into a lake and goes to confront the director of the organization. Upon getting there he is met by Rose Wilson sword in hand ready for a fight. I think this is an awesome moment because it shows both characters fed up with following questionable orders and prepared to do what they believe is right. I would love to see how the next issue continues from there it’s sure to be a great battle.

CBC's EIC Frankie Rodriguez:

I have always been a big fan of Transformers. Thus, for the second time within a month, my moment comes from a Transformers book: This time TF: Robots In Disguise # 1. The Autobots, Decepticons and Cybertronian's left on Cybertron are dealing with people come back to the planet after so long and being a part of a new government. Metalhawk, one of my favorite characters from my favorite Transformers anime, is a couple and utter douchebag in this book and Bumblebee is the big bot in charge. When Decepticons Horribull and Needlenose were attacking a non aligned Cybertronian, called Nails by the Autobots and Decepticons for a second time. Bubblebee held out a device that would activate on the scramblers and bombs that were installed in the Decepticons after the events of Chaos. Horribull chose to ignore Bumblebee. Metalhawk said to Bumblebee to think about what he was doing. Horribull was about to kill the Nail when Bumblebee pressed the detonator, blowing the Horribull's head off his body. WOW. How far has the little guy has come.

CBC's Darryll Carter :

I just got caught up on my Scott Snyder’s current Batman run. It is every bit as good as I’ve heard. So good to the point that I was angry when I read in issue #5 that Bruce had been missing for 8 days. I immediately exclaimed “This is horse manure (euphemized)! Bruce is too good to be caught like that!” Then immediately realized, “Oh my (also euphemized)! He survived 8 days in a labyrinth without food? Bruce is a bloody (euphemized Britainstyle) beast!” But seriously… Bruce lost it in this labyrinth. He’s hanging on by a thread. This is epic because, I’ve never seen my hero like that before. Sure, the Joker toxin or Scarecrow’s fear gas has pushed him over the edge before. But those are cheats. This is simply Bruce being pushed to the limits of his will. It brings a large level of humanity back to the Batman.
