Rolling Review/Doyle's DVDs: Mobile Suit Gundam 00 - Season 1 Pt 1 - Special Edition
Mobile Suit Gundam 00: Season 1 Pt 1 SE
This special edition DVD set comes with volume 1 of 3, and in addition has vol. 1 of the Manga and 00-F Manga. The 00 DVD set contains 9 episodes(dual audio), titleless credits, and promotional trailers for the series, such as bios for the cast and mobile suits. Then as for the 00 Manga it covers practically the entire DVD set in one book, where as the 00-F manga is a side story branching off from the first vol with an entire different cast. Overall 00 is an amazing series, with wonderfully drawn manga to follow after it, a real great purchase overall for any Gundam Fan!

Casting Call, we need voice actors for radio play
Watch this video:
Or read on:
Myself and Seraph work on the podcast Morphin Bracers and we make radio drama skits for it. With how much more work and how much bigger (and how popular) these skits are we decided to make a separate show that is just the radio drama. We have some major roles of female characters that need to be filled. One of those roles is none other than Haman Khan. There’s also characters from Sentai and anime like Magic Knight Rayearth that we need. Think of what we’re working on as Super Robot Wars except it’s mot limited to mecha anime, heck it’s not even limited to anime and tokusatsu, we have roles for western animations like Avatar the need filled as well.
We also have a fighting radio drama we’re working on that is it’s own thing, this is still in planning but we need roles for that as well. We have plenty of male voices and we’re not adverse to adding more male voices but we are in need of female voice actors.
If you want to listen to the kind of stuff we do, you can hear the latest skit we did which was at the beginning of Morphin Bracers 25 http://thebrokeninfinite.blogspot.com/2012/11/podcasts-morphin-bracers-episode-25.html

Gundam Week Day 7: MSIA RX-79(G) Ez-8 Gundam
The final day of Gundam Week ends with a bang, as Shiro Amada wages war with Zeon in the Ez-8 Gundam! This Gundam is from the OVA 08th MS Team, one of my favorite series of the Gundam Franchise. As for this figure it's practically 100% accurate to what its based on however it does have the common flaw of pieces easily being lost, broken or warped. Luckily for me I only have like 3 small issues with this figure after owning it for over a decade. I plan to buy kits of this if there is any and do plan to possibly cover them in future reviews.

Gundam Week Day 6: MSIA Gouf & DO-DAI YS
Ramba Ral appears in his Zaku... I mean his Gouf while riding the DO-DAI YS for Day 6. Anyways based off the Zaku II, painted blue and given thicker armor attachments. Its left hand is a lazer blaster, and right arm carrys Heat Rods Whips able to cut into a Gundam. It was seen early on as a huge threat to the Gundam and White Base, until Amuro was able to kick into his Newtype abilities. This figure however comes with a few Heat Rod coils, a Shield, and its Sword along for a spare hand to hold it. I'm glad I got it, but which I culd've gotten the Gouf Custom from the 08th MS Team a whole lot more!

Gundam Week Day 5: MSIA Char's Z'Gok
Day 6 of Gundam Week and Char has returned, spotting his Z'Gok! Char debut this custom when the White Base was stationed at Jaburo. This custom as usual was fast than the regular Z'Gok and was painted in Char Red. The figure however is amazing, even thou it looks pink-ish. But however this doesn't come with accessories except spar claws, just it doesn't change the fact it's a cool mobile suit. This crustacean-based mecha is one of the best and I plan to eventually get some high-grades of these types.

Gundam Week Day 4: MSIA Char's Zaku II
The Red Comet, Char Aznable has arrived to Gundam Week, spotting his Zaku II Custom! This MSIA has basic points of articulation, with four amazing accessories. First up, is the basic Zaku Rifle and Heat Axes used by all Zakus. Then it has the long range rifle, and average mobile suit bazooka. Even thou this figure is the basic Char Zaku II, it truely does attract alot of attention to it. It amazing shade of red always catches everyone's eye, even the likelys of the White Base!

Gundam Week Day 3: MSIA Guntank
Day 3, and we're on to one of my personal favorites the Guntank! It original was a two man operated mobile suit, that was piloted by Hayato Kobayashi and Ryu Jose. But later on after Ryu's death Hayato piloted it solo. This figure is great with one huge flaw thou however, it's treads don't move at all. Since it can't roll on its own it quite horrible indeed, such as wheelchair that still uses bicycle tires. Anyways the figure is wonderful, mostly thou as a paper weight so I guess the model kit would be better.

Gundam Week Day 2: MSIA Guncannon
Day 2 of Gundam Week, and today it's the Guncannon Mobile Suit! This was piloted by several people on White Base, mostly Kai. It the original American dub Richard Cox voice Kai, a voice sharing that of Bit Cloud from Zoids. Anyways this Mobile Suit came with a Beam Rifle and two sets of shoulder cannons. Still as of today, I enjoy this figure for what it was and what it is. For the fact it's an amazing Mobile Suit, with a firery red paint job and cannons that can blow anything that stands in its way to kingdom come.

Gundam Week Day 1: MSIA RX-78 & G-Armor
Starting off Gundam Week is the MISA RX-78 and G-Armor pack. This was released somewhere around 2002 to 2003 here in the states. It came with a better mold of the RX-78 Gundam, alogn with several better made accessories. The Beam Sabers were thicker, and the Javelin had more spikes. Along that it had the extra shield, more paint apps and a Core Fighter. The G-Armor itself too is really nice, as its treads actually work unlike earlier Gundam toys using treads. Justt like most MISA's these toys become very loose jointed and begin to fall apart on themselves. However even after all these years I still love and enjoy this representation of the RX-78 and G-Armor.

Top 10 Alternate Universe Gundam designs
Article by Jeremias de Leon
Finally, my mecha loving brothers and sisters, I am back with another mecha related article. This time I'm back with more Gundam related stuff. Moving away from the Universal Century into all those alternate universes with, my top 10 Gundam designs in alternate universes. Will anything from SEED be on the list?
Here we go!
Number 10
AGE-1 Normal
The AGE-1 Normal from Gundam AGE essentially is the original Gundam's design with tweaks made to make it more likable to today's generation. Most alternate universe lead Gundam's usually do take the RX-78's design and add to it.
Number 8
OZ-13 MS Epyon
Like the Master Gundam the Epyon is another antagonist that gets most of the "bad guy vibe" from it's color scheme. Very different from the lead Gundam color scheme of red, white, blue and yellow. This Gundam however takes it further than the Master Gundam did with the design of it's body. It has even more devilish looking wings, a whip that can also be a tail due to it's dragon motif as a mobile armor, what can be seen as claws on it's hand legs and arms that not only have protruding parts but a very segmented serpent looking design to it.
Yet another villainous Gundam in this countdown. I have to admit they know how to design the villain mobile suits right in pretty much all the Gundam series. Even SEED and SEED Destiny, which, while I personally don't care for I will admit has some great designs.
My personal favorite Gundam in Gundam Wing the Deathscythe. Where the Epyon does its design well with having a motif, I feel the Deathscythe does even better. With the Epyon you have what looks like tails and claws and some awesome looking wings, but to a random onlooker they can guess anything from a serpent to a demon if they didn't know it's supposed to be a dragon. With the Deathscythe there's no way you can not guess what it's motif is.
![]() |
Very much like the original Gundam eh? |
That's why this design works it took what made the RX-78-2 iconic but added it's own uniqueness on top of it. The design looks more like it's a product of modern technology with the A made from a screen in the middle of it's chest. Also the more slender arms and legs and the way the whole Gundam looks like it was manufactured by a computer company.
Number 9
GF13-001NHII Master Gundam
Master Asia's Gundam in G Gundam has a good design as an antagonist Gundam thanks in large part to it's color scheme, Dark colors with bits of red all over certainly make it look like it's not here to bake cookies. The protruding parts on different points of its body also give it an intimidating look. There's also the head unit that has protruding sections and the type of wings that almost seem devilish.
It's the type of design that instantly gets recognition and that's what you want.
Number 9
GF13-001NHII Master Gundam
![]() |
LOOK! The east is burning red! |
It's the type of design that instantly gets recognition and that's what you want.
Number 8
OZ-13 MS Epyon
![]() |
Can you tell this can turn into a dragon? |
It's not only a design that works but it's also one that makes people want to have it as well, it's not just villainous looking it's appealing.
Number 7
GAT-X207 Blitz Gundam
![]() |
Don't get me wrong I don't care for SEED |
The Blitz Gundam gets most of my praise for it's color scheme. It's a very sleek looking Gundam, and if it had a personality you can tell it would be the kind where it's all about business and doing what it needs to, however it needs to do it. The V fin and the shoulder blades sticking out as they do really helps to give off that kind of feel. The Blitz Gundam stands out to me among the many Gundam designs as something that's just plain cool, I admit I want the master grade of it.
Number 6
XXXG-00W0 Wing Gundam Zero
The Wing Gundam like the Gundam Age takes the RX-78-2 and adds upon it. But where the AGE didn't add a whole lot the Wing added more and made its design its own. It has a shield and rifle like the original did but they have much different designs, it also adds wings which look more angelic than devilish, unlike the Epyon. The wings looking that way are much less subtle in the movie Endless Waltz.
XXXG-00W0 Wing Gundam Zero
![]() |
Did you know you can see the Wing Gundam at the end of G Gundam? |
The Wing Gundam does what it should do, look like it's meant for military use (though not realistic military use) and look decorated so the kids want to buy it.
Number 5
XXXG-01D Gundam Deathscythe
![]() |
A lot of peoples favorite |
A very unique protagonist Gundam having a weapon like a scythe and a more typically villainous color scheme of black and yellow and little bits of red. Though the white it has offsets and villainous vibes it might give off. Which I have to say is another reason I like the design, for something usually seen as "bad" like having a motif based off the grim reaper its design still lets you know it's not necessarily a villainous robot.
Like it's Universal Century cousin the ZZ the AGE 3s design works because it looks like a powerhouse. But actually I believe I have to give more credit to the AGE 3 because unlike the ZZ Gundam it looks more balanced. It doesn't look clunky despite it's size. Almost as if the large legs and shoulder are more like its armor than the machine just being huge. The AGE 3 not only gives homage to previous Gundams, especially the ZZ but adds its own unique spin and because of that it doesn't just come to your mind as "that knockoff" but as it's own Gundam.
Number 4
ZGMF-Z20A Strike Freedom
The Strike Freedom just looks appealing, especially to a mecha obsessed kids eyes. It has a gold inner frame, the dragoons look pretty sleek and catch your eye with it's bits of blue and red and the shoulder and skirt armor kind of give it a look of a knight. This Gundam looks heroic and for kids buying toys it's important to look heroic. I don't care much for Kira Yamato this is true but I'd be lying if I said I didn't want the perfect grade of this, if I had the money.
ZGMF-Z20A Strike Freedom
![]() |
What's a SEED Destiny Gundam doing so high on this list? Remember I'm only talking designs here. |
Number 3
AGE 3 Gundam
![]() |
It looks like the ZZ what's up with that? Huh? Oh, it's supposed to? |
Number 2
GX-9901-DX Double X Gundam
![]() |
Piloted by someone who's sane believe it or not |
The Double X Gundam is different for a lead Gundam. You may seem some protagonist Gundam have black in it's color scheme like the Deathscythe but not really for a lead. It helps it stand out among the many lead Gundams in the alternate universes. The back pack also being a powerful weapon helps it move toys and the green centerpiece catches your eye. Also, if we were in a world where the military created giant robots with crazy powerful weaponry I can actually see the Double X in it's ranks.
Number 1
GF13-017NJII God Gundam
The God Gundam and the Wing Gundam have a bit in common. Both have wing like parts and both have gems in their chest. Also both are of course based off the RX-78-2. Why is the God Gundam number 1 then? Well, yes it has wings but it's wings are a lot more unique and yes it has a gem, but for the God Gundam the gem seems to be there for a reason, seen when it goes into its super mode. It also has extra parts added like other Gundams based off the original to give it's own unique flavor but unlike a lot of those other Gundams all those extra parts are there for a reason we see what they do. The wings, and the gem are used for it's super mode and what look like claws on it's arms are used for it's attacks.
![]() |
SEKIHA TENKYOKEN!!! |
This design not only looks good like all the previous designs do and some may even look cooler but this design wins not only for it's looks but for its practicality. Again, going to toys what attracts kids isn't just looking cool but it's playability and with all the things the God Gundam can do with it's parts it's something that will sell to them.
Well, that's it for my top 10 Alternate Universe Gundams, what do you think? What are your favorite Gundams?
But before I get out of here, here are two honorable mentions:
![]() |
Gundam X |
![]() |
AGE 2 Gundam |
Also, what would the Turn A Gundam fall in to you? Universal Century or Alternate Universe? By the way I love its design.

Top 10 non Gundam designs in the Universal Century
Hello again people on The Broken Infinite. It's Jeremias de Leon back with another Gundam countdown article. I'm quite surprised I'm back with one so soon, the success of that article has gotten me to write the next in the series immediately instead of in another few weeks. Thank you Gundam fans for taking the time to read.
Anyway without further ado here are the top 10 non-Gundam designs in the Universal Century. When I say non-Gundam I mean non-Gundam so anything that isn't called a Gundam can be in this countdown not just grunt suits. Mobile suits used by aces but aren't Gundams will be found here too. Also, remember this is about designs so I'm not considering firepower and the like, only how cool they look.
Number 10
MS-07B Gouf
The Gouf is an interesting design. Taking many cues from the Zaku but adding to it, to make it more threatening. The blue and black make it stand out, almost like it's lightning from the night sky. The whip which sends out a huge electric shock seems to add to this motif. A design that stands out when I think of other mobile suits, among the countless zakus and other Zeon grunt suits.
The Gelgoog has a design to it that gives it a sort of gallant flair. Whether in it's standard colors, Char red, or Gato blue it will have the kind of presence that almost commands respect. Enough said, really.
The YMS-15 Gyan is quite different from pretty much every other mobile suit on the Federation or the Zeon, Neo-Zeon, Sleeves, whatever is fighting the Federation or AEUG or Londo Bell. For a time period where giant robots are fighting and these giant robots fight with guns and sometimes a type of shield and melee weapon that looks like it would be used in a modern or future war in comes this thing rocking a medieval style broadsword and shield. Now the Gundam did have a medieval looking shield and even a mace/shooting star/hammer but the Gyan takes it to the extreme. Which is why it's one design that stands out and deserves to be on a top list for designs in Gundam.
The Hambrabi is sure one heck of a unique suit. It has design to it that makes it look like an evil machine. With the cogs that provide movement for it's knees visible and the wide design of it's back and lower legs. It almost looks like it's an enchanted piece of metal. Cursed with motion to hunt down those in it's path. Something I certainly wouldn't want to run into, which is probably exactly what the Titans were going for.
Haman Khan's Qubeley in Zeta and ZZ Gundam. The Qubeley's color scheme of mostly pink and white, give it a sense of feminity. But the design of the huge shoulder pads and protruding parts on the knees and arms, along with the hands looking more like claws than human hands give it a look that it's also dangerous. It fits Haman Khan perfectly. As she is indeed not only an attractive woman but a very dangerous one. When giving her a mech that's for her use they made it reflect who she was and indeed you can get a sense of who she was just by looking at her Qubeley.
The Blue destiny is a GM... but one heck of a GM! The paint job of the different blues and the way it just shines makes it look like it's definitely not only cut from a different cloth but like it's an agent of something, like destiny. Which I guess why it's called the Blue Destiny. It's not a mobile suit one ever forgets once you've seen it. It's just too unique especially during the one year war.
If Char's Sazabi got your respect then Full Frontal's Sinanju commands it. Keeping with the red and gold color scheme from the Sazabi the Sinanju adds black and streamlines the design to look even more efficient. It's not as bulky but still looks like it has power and the glossy red gives it a look that it's no mere soldier, but the type of mobile suit built for a commander, like the Sazabi was.
So here it is my number one pick for a design that isn't a Gundam in the Universal Century. Why this and not the Sinanju? Well, as I've said before these are all military machines and the best looking designs are the ones that look like they'll be used by soldiers. The Geara Zulu looks like it's made to be used for soldiers in war. From the standard army color scheme of green, with some black to the big should shield and the gun it totes around this is the kind of mobile suit that not only is built for war but totally 100% looks like it's built for war as well. It's not flashy, but it's not completely ugly either. When looking at all the non-Gundam mobile suits and thinking about which one I had to pilot if I wasn't an ace I always gravitate the Geara Zulu. It just looks like it can kick butt and have an easy time of doing it.

Number 7
RX-139 Hambrabi
![]() |
Yazan "violator" Gable loved this one |
Number 6
RGM-96x Jesta
![]() |
Dang GM when did you get cool? |
Taking the basics of the GM and Nemo before it but adding cool factor with a navy blue, black and grey color scheme the Jesta stands out as a design for the Federation that will probably make people actually want to pilot one, or at the very least, buy a model kit of one. The shoulder pads and lower leg armor make it look like a true soldier mobile suit and one that is very capable of doing whatever mission it's given.
Number 5
MSN-04 Sazabi
![]() |
You could tell this is final boss worthy |
Char's Sazabi from Char's Counterattack with it's color scheme of red and gold and it's huge, yet not clumsy looking, stature gives it the exact quality it should have. That of a leader of an entire army. It's the kind of mobile suit you have to respect no matter what side you're on.

Well, those were my top 10 non-Gundam designs in the Universal Century. How about you guys? What are your top designs that aren't a Gundam in the Universal Century? Also, be on the lookout for my next Gundam article sometime next month, the top 10 Gundam designs in alternate universes.

Top 10 Gundam designs in the Universal Century
Hello everyone on the Broken Infinite. This is Jeremias de Leon and I'm bringing you my first countdown.
The countdown for this week will be part of a series of countdowns
concerning the Gundam Metaseries, they'll be spread out over the next
few months, although their might be two on some months.
The first countdown for this little
series will be the top Gundam designs in the Universal Century. If
the title didn't already let you know. Well, that's enough of the
introductions let's start this thing off. Here we go with number 10.
Number 10
RX-78NT-1
Gundam "Alex"
![]() |
Despite it being low on the list the pilot Christina MacKenzie is still hot so... it has that |
In
terms of design the Gundam Alex is pretty solid. The classic Gundam
color scheme of red, white, blue, and yellow is accounted for here.
But this color scheme has more blue and white than any other color.
With the mainly blue and white color scheme that has yellow and red
accents this Gundam is one of the more slender looking ones. Almost
as if it was more about speed than power in combat.
It
really is a great design, following the principle of simple and
straightforward aesthetics that I myself follow when designing. It's
low on the list however for not being too memorable of a design, it's
not bad as I said before but it's not one that I feel compelled to
look at.
Number
9
RX-79(G)
Gundam Ground Type
![]() |
Couldn't fight in space though |
The
grunt Gundam in the 08th
MS Team. Like the Alex it's none too fancy but it still has quite a
bit going on. The torso is different than most Gundam designs, with
the yellow vent only on one side. It has more of a militaristic look
than the original Gundam as well. These being mass produced units
they have numbers stating which MS team they belong too and have a
more uniform look to them. Which is why the design is cool, actually.
It looks like it can actually be a real military weapon. Like the
Alex though, it's also a bit bland. Simple is good but it feels as
though perhaps it's a bit too simple. Then again it's a grunt unit,
and not a lead Gundam.
Number
8
RX-178
Gundam Mk-II
![]() |
Whether in AEUG or Titans colors it'll look cool |
The
Gundam Mk-II also isn't too complex of a design but this is where the
designs start to get memorable. It took the concept of the original
RX-78 and made it more militarized like the Ground Gundam, but also
gave it a bit of an update and with that update made it stand out on
it's own. It has the classic Gundam head and V fin and also has the
standard looking torso. However, the skirt armor, backpack and
shoulders make it look more intimidating than other Gundams. It looks
like something you don't want to tangle with in a fight. Which one
would assume is the point and in this point the Gundam Mk-II excels
beautifully. A design which will always stick with me.
Number
7
RX-105
Ξ Gundam
![]() |
One of the more unique Gundams |
The
lead Gundam Hathaway Noa (Bright's son) pilots in the novel series
Hathaway's
Flash. Also
called the Xi Gundam. It is more complex than the other Gundams in
this countdown so far. It does not feel that it has way too much
going on though. Your eyes never feel like they're getting tired
trying to keep up with all the minute details in the design. One of
the more underrated Gundam designs to, possibly because not many
outside of Japan have read the novel Hathaway's
Flash.
I don't see many people bring this Gundam up when talking about
designs. Which is sad, because it's such a nice, refreshing and unique
take on a Gundam design. We usually don't see many lead Gundams look
serpentine like this one. It's one that should be looked at more.
Number
6
RX-0
Unicorn Gundam
![]() |
The Unicorn just has this quality to it, that you just have your eyes drawn to it |
When
looking at the Unicorn Gundam, just one word pops into my head,
“sleek”. It's the kind of design that when you look at it all you
can really say is “that's cool”. When it's flying around as a
pure white moble suit in the darkness of space, it just seems to
gleam. When it's rampaging with the glowing red and gold in destroy
mode it is totally eye catching. The Unicorn Gundam is the kind of
design that toy makers love, one that demands your eye's attention
and never lets it go.
Number
5
RX-93
ν Gundam
![]() |
Fin Funnels, you wish you had some, right? |
The
Nu Gundam in Char's Counterattack is one of the cooler designs in the
Universal Century. The color scheme of black, red, and yellow is a
nice break from the standard lead Gundam color scheme and works well with
this design of what's essentially a more slender looking Gundam with
an awesome backpack of beam funnels. Out of the other Gundam's on
this list, save for possibly the Unicorn Gundam this one seems to be
one of the more fanciful designs with a very non-standard weapon.
Although fin-funnels have been seen before with Haman Khan's Qubeley
in Zeta and ZZ Gundam. When it's in motion the design really stands
out as it gives the Nu Gundam a kind of mystical look to it.
A
very cool design.
Number
4
RX-78-2
Gundam
![]() |
The OG |
The
classic, original Gundam. The grandaddy of Gundams. The RX-78-2 is an
iconic design. It's not overly complicated, the color scheme is great
and you can never forget it once you've seen it. It's the kind of
design that not only works as a design for a robot but as an icon,
that stands for something. Whenever it's seen it's almost as if it's
more than just a robot for military use, it's a symbol and that right
there is great design.
Number
3
MSZ-006
Zeta Gundam
![]() |
Remember that weird attack that used the souls of dead people Kamille used? What? Can't be random? |
The
Zeta Gundam is such a cool design. From the different head type from
most other Gundams to the unique shield this Gundam takes a lot of
strides away from the usual Gundam design. The color scheme of having
more blue than red or yellow helps it looks sleeker, just like the
Gundam Alex. The waverider mode it can transform into also helps it
stay in your mind. But sticking with mobile suit mode, it's the kind
of robot a kid would love to get a toy of, it just looks like
something you want to stand on your shelf. Since having people buy
toys of these Gundams are the point of these designs that makes this
design high on the list.

Yes,
that's right, I like the Double Zeta and yes, I like it this much to
put it this high on the list. Hear me out though, you see there's
three things that make for a good Gundam design in the Universal
Century, how cool it would be as a toy, how much it looks like a
military machine, and how unique it is compared to the other mobile
suits. The Double Zeta is a cool toy, especially the recent high
grade, it looks like a hulking military machine and compared to the
other mobile suits it looks quite different.
Others
who don't like the Double Zeta's design usually remark that they
don't like big hulking machines and prefer the Zeta because it's a
more elegant looking mobile suit. I say I prefer the Double Zeta
because of it's behemoth size. It's something I'd expect a robot made
to be so powerful by the military to look like. They'd want something
that looks big and intimidating. The design works and like I've been
saying throughout this countdown it is one to be remembered.
All
right... so here it is, number 1 Gundam design in the Universal
Century

The
second lead Gundam in Stardust Memory after the GP-01. This Gundam
has an almost pure white color scheme, extra powerful thrusters in
the back and a sleek look, yet not totally slender. Almost in between
the bulky Double Zeta and slim Alex and Zeta Gundams. This Gundam
looks like it should. On top of all the other factors I mentioned
before, like how it looks like a war machine, and looks like it would
make a great toy, it also looks like a robot made for an ace pilot.
Which is what the Gundams are, they're not made for the everyday
soldier but the hotshots and this looks like a machine for an ace.
With
all the white and bits of shiny green when in motion, it's like it's just a blur of lights. Whenever I think of Gundams in
the Universal Century, or just Gundam in general the very first thing
that comes is the GP03 Dendrobium Stamen. It's got a cool look, it's
fast and it's powerful. It really is the total package.
What
do you think? What's your favorite Gundams in the Universal Century?
Also, keep a heads up for the next Gundam countdown top non-Gundam
designs in the Universal Century.
