VALIANT STRIKES BACK WITH TALKING VARIANTS, HARBINGERS & . . . MOVIE?!
By Frankie Rodriguez
Valiant Comics is getting ever closer to its relaunch. And while it seems many of the old titles we love will be coming back, Valiant is not just going to stop with just bringing back titles.
X-O Manowar # 1 will be a lot of firsts for Valiant. It will be the first book of its relaunch. The book stars a cave man who ends up getting an extremely powerful, advanced armor that makes him near immortal. It will also bolster the first to have what Valiant is calling “ a pullbook variant”. Valiant is using all sorts of means in order to bring readers, new and old, to their titles. The Pullbook Variant is a special variant cover of X-O Manowar in which only people who get access to print copies in shops who preorder the book into their pullbox with get this variant. But that is not all.
There will be another version of X-O Manowar # 1 that will … well, be able to talk. Yes. The world’s first ever talking cover will be unleashed with X-O Manowar #1. The cover will feature the lead talking. The Pullbox variant & the Talking variant will be released May #2, along with the standard edition of the book.
And as recently announced, X-O Manowar will be followed up by another old friend . .. Harbinger. Harbinger, the book following a group of people developing super powers called Harbingers and a battle between 2 main protagonists, Peter Stanchek running from Toyo Harada, will hit shelves June 6th. It will also have a talking variant.
And finally, even though the relaunch does not start until May, Valiant is already spreading into the silver screen. It looks as if Sony wants to produce a movie based on popular Valiant property, Bloodshot. Bloodshot is a former mob assassin who was capture and experimented on till his body soon contained nanites within his blood which gave him super strength and nearly invulnerable. This came about after a fan of the original run and spec script writer Jeff Wadlow brought his original spec script to Sony and Valiant Entertainment. The live action film has been optioned by Sony.

IMAGE SETS UP THE SIDE KICKS
From Image Comics Website
What if superheroes were real? And what if one day they all disappeared? In DANGER CLUB, a new Image Comics series by Landry Walker and Eric Jones, the fate of the world is in the hands of the allies that the heroes left behind — their teenage sidekicks. It's up to the this rag-tag and fragmented group to battle the immense cosmic evil that threatens the world. But the fight could be over before it even starts if the sidekicks' struggle for dominance destroys them from the inside.
"Eric and I wanted to take they typical assortment of sidekicks and strip them of their authority figures," explained Walker. "These are the most powerful beings on the planet, and the oldest is around sixteen. You take any group of teenagers and put them in a positions of absolute power... there will be some serious consequences. Some will seek to recreate the familiar hierarchy or attempt to establish their dominance while some will some will rise to the occasion."
Walker and Jones are no strangers to superheroes. However, the creative team behind Supergirl: Cosmic Adventures in the 8th Grade and Batman: The Brave and the Bold, still feel like they've undertaken something new.
"The flexibility of working within our own superhero universe has been a rewarding experience," said Walker. "It's a very different animal — independent creation versus working within corporate-owned playgrounds — and it's allowing Eric and I to show sides of our work that we really haven't been given an opportunity to expose while working under a corporate umbrella. We've kind of gotten a label as 'all-ages' creators. That's not all we are. Fortunately, Image has given us an opportunity to show our range and diversity."
DANGER CLUB #1 will be in stores and digital platforms on April 4 and is available for preorder in the February issue of Previews (FEB120420). A three-page preview appears in INVINCIBLE #89, in stores on February 29.
END OF 2 ERAS, BENDIS TO LEAVE AVENGERS BOOKS & HICKMAN TO LEAVE FF BOOKS
by Frankie Rodriguez
Announced recently was that Brian Michael Bendis, the (im)famous writer of both Avengers and New Avengers will be leaving the Avengers franchise after the end of Avengers vs. X-Men. Shortly after that was announced, Jonathan Hickman, current writer of both Fantastic Four and FF, stated that he would be leaving both those books later this year. Both men are leaving their respective books after lengthy runs on both that have had fans wanting more. Both men are 2 of the 5 man writing team behind Marvel's blockbuster event, Avengers vs. X-Men.
What does this mean? It seems that we could very well see a changing of the guard of sorts when it comes to writers and properties. Bendis is rumored to be taking over some of the X-Men books after Avengers vs. X-Men. Where does that leave the Avengers books? Could Hickman be taking over one of them? Jason Aaron, current writer of Wolverine & the X-Men, recently ended his stint as writer for Wolverine and Punisher Max. He is also part of Avengers vs. X-Men and it is rumored that he is in line to take over one of the Avengers books. Yet, who will take the Fantastic Four. All these changes lead to more questions. Still . .. we'll be keeping an eye out.

EDITORIAL

The Amazing Spiderman Movie
Hey Clashers your friendly neighborhood clasher here. coming at you with my first editorial and how appropriate that it should be on the upcoming Amazing Spiderman film based solely on what ive seen so far in the way of trailers lets begin shall we. I'll begin with Andrew Garfield as Peter, not really working for me he does'nt look the part as far as his acting in the role I'd have to see the movie to tell.As far as I can tell with his acting in the suit it seems to work lets hope thats the case when i go see the movie. Emma Stone as Gwen I like. I would have loved to see her as Mary Jane but seeing her in character convinced me lets hope she does that with her acting. Dennis Leary as Captain Stacy......FAIL!!! He doesn't look the part he's never played a part close enough to George Stacy to let it slide he needs to pull a serious Heath Ledger on this part. Rhys Ifans as Doctor Connors not too thrilled about. he doesnt look the part but his few lines as Connors has me not so against it but, in my opinion, he has Cletus Cassidy written all over him just saying. I'm liking the cgi for the Lizard except for the head. he has a humanoid rounded head with no snout. he resmbles Killer croc(Batman) or a Goombah from the Super Mario Brothers movie. I love what they're doing with the story it appears to be closer to the comic story than the original three. All in all i can not wait for this movie and believe i will review it as part of the 50th anniversary celebration.
