Comic News: Quantum & Woody Go Weekly ... on IGN

IGN Presents QUANTUM AND WOODY WEEKLY - A New Webcomic by JAMES ASMUS & TY TEMPLETON!

Beginning today, the world's worst superhero team are hitting the interwebs with everything they've got!

Before Quantum and Woody #1 comes careening into comic shops everywhere on July 10th, Valiant is teaming up with the authoritative voice in gaming and entertainment for IGN Presents Quantum and Woody Weekly – an exclusive, six-part webcomic by Quantum and Woody's own James Asmus(Thief of ThievesGambitThe End Times of Bram & Ben) and Eisner Award-winning artist Ty Templeton (Ultimate Spider-Man AdventuresTy Templeton's Art Land)!

"Valiant has delivered nothing but quality since they launched last summer, so I’m proud and honored to partner with them to debut Quantum and Woody Weekly exclusively on IGN," said IGN Senior Editor Joey Esposito. "We’re excited to help Valiant’s expansion into web comics, as well as explore IGN Comics as a platform for original comic book content. Plus, you know, goats!”

"We have a seriously cool new series percolating with Quantum and Woody, but before it kicks off in July, our friends at IGN were kind (and crazy) enough to let James Asmus and Ty Templeton bring the hilarity of the world's worst superhero team to their readers on a weekly basis," said Quantum and Woody Editor Jody LeHeup. "James and Ty have done their darnedest to deliver some special stuff for old fans of Q&W and new readers alike, so rejoice y'all – Quantum and Woody are back a bit early and in a whole new way."

Once upon a time, Eric and Woody Henderson were inseparable. Adopted brothers. Best friends. Brilliant minds. Years later, they are estranged siblings, petty rivals, and washed-up failures. But when their father’s murder leads them into the throes of a life-altering scientific accident, Eric and Woody will find themselves with a whole new purpose – and a perfectly legitimate reason to wear costumes and fight crime. Go big or go home, folks! Quantum and Woody are coming...and the zeitgeist-shredding exploitation stunt comic you demanded is here at last.  (And, yes, there will be a goat too. Eventually.)

Now, in the lead-up to Quantum and Woody's milestone first issue this July, get in on the ground floor of the adventures of the Valiant Universe's ineptly aspiring heroes with a new installment of IGN Presents Quantum and Woody Weekly every Wednesday! What are the origins of Woody and Eric's witty repartee? Who looks better in blue? And what exactly is the deal with that goat anyway?

Find out the answers to none of these pressing questions and more each week  – only at IGN! Then the misguided action-adventure blowout of the summer continues on July 10th in Quantum and Woody #1- the FIRST ISSUE of Valiant's next ongoing monthly series by James Asmus and Tom Fowler, and featuring a standard cover by Ryan Sook, a Pullbox Exclusive Variant by Marcos Martin for customers who pre-order with the their local retailer, an incentive variant by Andrew Robinson, and an interactive QR Voice Variant by Tom Fowler (with real talking goat action)!

But don't take our word for it – read the first precedent-setting installment of IGN Presents Quantum and Woody Weekly right now, only at IGN!

Film News: Marc Webb to return as director for "Amazing Spidey" sequel.

Confirmed through Variety, Sony Pictures has re-acquired director, Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) for the Amazing Spider-Man sequel.

After the immersive success in the box office this past July, there were talks of Mr. Webb not returning to direct a sequel, due to a contract with FOX owing them one more fim. However, this will not affect the movie's release date, due out May 2nd 2014. Returning for the sequel are Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Sally Field as Aunt May and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy. Returning to write the sequel's script is James Vanderbilt, with re-visions done by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.

Film News: No sequel planned for 28 Week Later.

Courtesy of both IGN.com and Dread Central, whomever was anticipating the long rumored sequel to 28 Weeks Later, "28 Months Later". I'm sorry to report this, but we got some sad news.

Alex Garland, the writer/producer of both the 2004 original "28 Days Later" and it's 2007 sequel, said from a recent interview promoting "Dredd 3D":

"I'm still so proud of 28 Days Later and how well it's been received over the years so I appreciate that. But in regards to another movie, no- there are no plans for a 28 Months Later or whatever they were calling it. This is a series I've always been heavily involved with between the original and the sequel so if there were plans for another movie, I would absolutely know about it."

So, there you go fellow zombie lovers. While he said that at the moment there isn't any plans to continue the series, that doesn't mean that it is dead.

Dredd 3D, the upcoming film revival of the 2000 A.D. comics character Judge Dredd, is out now in the U.K. regions and will be out tomorrow in theaters nationwide.
