Comics News: Best Selling New York Time THE IRON KING Gets Digital Comic Miniseries From Bluewater Productions

The best-selling young adult novel “the Iron King” has been transformed into a new medium – a comic book series and now an interactive digital comic book.  Bluewater Productions has released the first two issues of the 4-issue mini series.

Bluewater Productions has partnered with Piglion Studios in developing an animated comic book version, which is released this week on ITunes for $1.99.  The full-length interactive animated manga motion comic book app will also be released on the Android platforms later this month.

Julie Kagawa, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Iron Fey and Blood of Eden series of books for young adults, to “My fans know that I am a huge comic, manga, and anime enthusiast, and I write in a very cinematic and visual manner in part due to my love of this medium”.   Julie’s new title in the Iron Fey series “The Iron Traitor” just hit bookstores.

“My fans know that I am a huge comic, manga, and anime enthusiast, and I write in a very cinematic and visual manner in part due to my love of this medium,” Kagawa said.

The 4-issue “the Iron King” comic book series features the art of Lidia Chan, written by Julie Kagawa and Sara Gundell.

The app on ITunes can be viewed here: http://bit.ly/1kGFuvL

"We believe giving subtle movements to make it dynamic and interactive at the same time will help augment the readers' imagination. Piglion Studio is excited to see the success of this partnership and the fans should be too!"  Melch Valimento from Piglion Studio.

The Iron King is a young adult novel that was on the best-seller lists for the New York Times and USA Today while getting amazing reviews. The Iron King is the first book in the Iron Fey series, and follows the adventures of a girl named Meghan Chase. On her sixteenth birthday, Meghan discovers her little brother has been kidnapped by a faery race known as "the Fey" and even worse, replaced with an evil changeling and taken into the "Nevernever." Meghan bravely ventures into the faery realm to rescue him, and that's where an epic plot unfolds.

"The goal is to get people reading…simple.  I was a reluctant reader growing up and comic books helped my reading skills.  Comic books are not only for pop culture fun, but also can be used as a tool.  We are always trying to think outside the box to get people reading, this motion comic book will be another incentive", said Bluewater publisher Darren G. Davis.

“Motion comic books have come along way since our 1st one we did on Wrath of the Titans.  It is pretty amazing how the technology has advanced. I have watched the Iron King #1 over and over and still amazed at how polished it is”, added Davis.

More motion comic books are on the horizon at Bluewater with a partnership with Authorly.  In January, Female Force: Julia Child and Dorian Gray will be released as digital interactive comic books.

Bluewater has previously worked with best-selling novelists such as John Saul, SE Hinton, William F. Nolan and William Shatner to develop novel-based comic book series.

Interviews and PDF review copies are available upon request.

Bluewater Productions:  Bluewater is a full-service publishing and production company specializing in comic books, graphic novels and multimedia. Dedicated to pairing high-quality art with innovative storytelling, Bluewater creates a wide variety of intellectual properties that engage a growing readership and bridge the gap between comic books and the diverse multimedia marketplace. Comic News: Devil's Due & Manning Join Forces For Print & Digital MR. RHEE

DEVIL’S DUE, DIRK MANNING INK DEAL FOR
MR. RHEE
Devil’s Due to Collect for Print, Digital Release

CHICAGO, IL: Devil’s Due Entertainment has signed horror writer Dirk Manning to release comic book based on his successful horror/noir online comic, Tales of Mr. Rhee. The existing web series is to be collected into a print volume, as well as made available on digital comic platforms. Future “Mr. Rhee” content is also in the tentative planning stages.
The story of Mr. Rhee goes:

Five years ago Hell invaded Earth in a “nightmare world” scenario, only for the demons to be driven back into the abyss after three days of world-wide oppression.
Society has now rebuilt itself, though, and everything is back to normal…or so most people choose to believe.

There are still wicked things left behind that occasionally emerge from the shadows, prompting the involvement of the cryptic and enigmatic paranormal troubleshooter known only as “Mr. Rhee.”

“Tales of Mr. Rhee makes perfect sense as the next addition to the Devil’s Due family” says Josh Blaylock, founder of the Devil’s Due brand. “Dirk is a work horse, constantly promoting his titles, and looking for a different approach to how publishing is handled, and that is the kind of creator we’re looking for. Plus, Mr. Rhee is just a wonderfully sick and twisted collection of horror stories I couldn’t resist.”

Manning adds, “Tales of Mr. Rhee is a series I’ve wanted to take from web to print for a long time, but I’ve been waiting for the right set of circumstances which would allow me to reward the most die-hard fans of the series with a really cool bookshelf edition while also being able to unleash the franchise on the mainstream market. Bringing the series to Devil’s Due will allow me to offer existing fans a deluxe edition collection of the series while also introducing new comic readers to the character who is about to become their new favorite horror comic icon.”

Look for details regarding the print release of Tales of Mr. Rhee to be announced soon, with product shipping this Winter. Manning and Devil’s Due intend to utilize a combination of digital distribution, national store distribution and crowd funding platforms to maximize the success of Rhee, as well as exploring options in other areas of the entertainment field.

ABOUT DEVIL’S DUE ENTERTAINMENT: Devil’s Due Entertainment is a comic book publisher and incubator of diverse pop culture content. As “cartographers” drawing the maps in an uncharted world of new media, Devil’s Due brings together a vertically integrated platform to develop stories and fantasy worlds, and then implement the circulation of that content. In addition to its own creations, the company is servicing the needs of its partners who want to draw attention to and monetize their brands in merchandising, film, television, and various channels in the pop culture space.

ABOUT DIRK MANNING:Manning is best known as the writer/creator of the horror comic series Nightmare World from Image Comics/Shadowline and the ongoing inspirational column/book collection Write or Wrong: “A Writer’s Guide to Creating Comics”(Bleeding Cool/Transfuzion Publishing). Comic News: JTF - 3 Counter Ops Goes Digital

JTF-3 Counter Ops goes digital

May 2013, with the explosion of the mobile Tablet market, the digital comic book revolution has been steadily increasing its exodus away from the hardcopy paper format at a rapid rate and forcoverobvious reasons. Comic fans love being able to read all their collection from one device, and the prices are so much more affordable because of no overhead printing costs for content-creators. Indie-creators are especially grateful for the ability to sell directly to fans, bypassing the obstacles of going through the bureaucratic channels of major publishers.
Real Interface Studios, a comic book indie-studio based in NY/NJ, is re-releasing the first comic book series their company created a decade ago as a digital graphic novel for Apple's iPad and other tablets, JTF-3 Counter Ops.
Originally published in 2003, the complete collection of the 5 issue comic book mini-series is sold as a one single download containing 135 full-size digitally colored pages of non-stop action at a very affordable price!

Joint Task Force 3 is a story about a U.N.-sanctioned group composed of the most elite Counter-Terrorist operatives and Law-Enforcement officers from around the world.

Attempting to thwart a Terrorist organization from acquiring weapons of mass destruction, JTF-3 soon find themselves caught in a crossfire. Can they outthink or outgun a threat to U.S. allies that may have domestic ties? A cautionary tale that may prove too close to reality to pass as fiction...

Sheena McNeil from Sequential Tart reviews:
"The cover is just a taste of the good art in Counter Ops. The battle is especially well drawn with hand-to-hand as well as gun fighting. And things are explained in the midst of it all which makes it seem relatively real in time instead of having to read four pages of straight dialogue then have nothing but battle.

The plot as well as the order of presentation within the story are well thought-out. It is energetic with action, brains, and (of course) sexiness.
The story pulls you in from page one. A huge bank robbery has gone horribly wrong and the Joint
Task Force 3 has stepped in to help handle the situation.
However, they don't all agree on how it should be handled so when Sergeant Konoe acts, all Hell breaks lose.

Meanwhile, two new recruits have arrived, and they're getting thrown into the fray already.
This energetic story is well written and moves along at a perfect pace. The layout is excellent, and the story contains a nice blend of action, humor, and mystery to keep any reader interested through the whole issue."
- SequentialTart.com

JTF-3 Counter Ops the complete collection is available to read as a single graphic novel on the Apple iPad using the iBooks app's gorgeous comic book page-scrolling-features for only $3.99.

Also available on AMAZON's Kindle Device:

And Barnes & Noble's NOOK tablet:

Android Tablet owners can read it using the NOOK app or Kindle app.

Thus, he becomes Lazerman but suddenly realizes that there is more to being a hero than just having the super powers.

The all ages book is done by the creative time of brothers Alan and Chris Hebert. The creators wanted a book that anyone could read and have a classic feel to it, according to Chris Hebert on their Kickstarter. The Kickstarter is to help pay for a print version of the first 4 issues of Lazerman. HBComics are doing their best to make comics fun again and want to push Lazerman in the for front. Lazerman has been featured in other comics such as The Maxx, The Tick, the War of the Independents and more.

The Trade would collect issues #1-4 and 15 more pages of extras featuring pin ups from other artists such as Billy Tucci (the creator of Shi). They are over half way to their $6,500 goal but they need your help now.
