The Redeemers # 2
Issue #2
Arrivals and Conquests
by Frankie Rodriguez
RATED PG-13
All characters and/or renditions belong to Frankie Rodriguez.
1.
A train was thrusting its way onto
the city’s station with a smooth entry that made syrup jealous of landing on
pancakes. The large, silver and navy blue train slid to a halt just as the
clock stuck 17 minutes after 7:00am. The doors of the train pulled back with a
hiss, spilling passengers out of its cars like milk on a counter. As new
passengers hopped on the train, a young man in a dark brown jacket, wearing a
dark green shirt and black jeans had stepped onto the platform. The young man,
of Asian descent, swung a dark brown back, a shade lighter than his jacket, on
his back with easy. As he passed several patrons, the young man headed straight
for a booth that said information that was covered in glass, reaching the
ceiling. The young man noticed a brunette with a soft blue uniform on with a
symbol similar to the train he just walked out of on her bosom. With a quick
smirk, he made his way through the crowd with ease till he got to the booth;
only to be cut by a large, grizzly of a man in a suit and bald head. The young
Asian man frowned for a moment as the muscular man talked to the information
woman.
The
guy in the suit crowed, “Hey! I need to get to New York City from here. Which trains do I
take and how much is it and how long will it take?”
The
information woman asked, “Have you looked at the schedule?”
The
guy in the suit shook his head. “Listen if you could just tell me, I’d really .
. .”
The
young Asian guy rolled his eyes then grabbed the guy in the suit’s shoulders.
The young Asian guy quickly pushed aside the larger male with ease then stepped
forward. The information woman was stunned for a moment as the young Asian guy
smiled at her.
“Hi.
I . . . am . . .sorry,” slowly spoke the young Asian guy. “I . . . are . . .Quon Feng.”
Before
another syllable could be said, the guy in the suit stomped to Quon Feng’s
right. Seething, the guy in the suit barked out his next words. “I was in the
middle of talking to her, asshole.”
“Need
. . . help. You . . . don’t . . . read . . . schedule,” Quon Feng’s voice
echoed, showing signs that his English was somewhat limited. After that, his
mouth curved to a bright smile.
The
guy in the suit’s face began to turn bright red, “I don’t give a fuck. Learn
some English. You are in America
you motherfucker! I was there first. Go home asshole. Go the fuck away so I can
finish my damn business.”
The
information woman’s face faulted at the guy’s yelling but did not say a word
when she saw the large smile on Quon Feng’s face.
“You
. . . are . . . asshole,” Quon Feng started. “My . . . dog . . . pleases
himself . . . with your . . . mother’s vagina.”
The
information woman stifled a laugh as the crimson in the guy in the suit’s face
neared critical mass. The guy threw a punch at Quon Feng who ducked over the
punch. The guy threw another punch but Quon Feng merely swung his neck to the
left, avoiding this punch with ease. The young Asian man quickly used his elbow
to block the third punch; causing the guy in the suit to yelp in pain. Quon
Feng gave a full smile as he then flipped over the guy in the suit, crashing
him on the ground.
“You
. . . done?” inquired Quon Feng with his thick Asian accent and grand smile
that flash white that made snow envious.
The
guy groaned in pain as Quon Feng shifted his gaze upon the information woman;
who was chuckling.
“You
know . . . at first I was mad at that but that asshole has been bugging me for
the same shit everyday for the last 2 weeks.” Her voice sweet and slow as her
eyes met with the near hypnotic pools of blue from the young Asian. “What can I
help you with again? And don’t worry. Take your time. Do you need a pen and
maybe write down what you want so I can understand better?”
Quon Feng began to hold his side as his bag
fell with a thump. His voice gasping as he laughed at the information woman;
who suddenly tilted her head with a face of bewilderment. “No need to talk
slow. I was just joking.”
“You
know English . . . good,” stated the surprised Information woman.
“Sweetie,
first, I may have trained in China
but I was born in Baltimore .
Secondly, It's I know English well. Remember proper grammar and all that.
Third, How about some directions . . . after I eat you out?”
The
information woman stood stunned as Quon Feng flashed her another, winning
smile.
Her
voice cracked in nervousness as she responded, “I . . . I . . . I don’t get off
till 2pm.”
Quon
Feng shook his head. “No, no no.”
Quickly,
Quon Feng took a small piece of metal with an A engraved on it. Quon Feng went
towards the booth’s door. Quon Feng taps it on the door and she swiftly lets
him inside the booth. The young Asian man ducks down as he goes in, getting to
his knees. Hidden from the world except her, gazed at her dress with a greedy
smile. The information woman just shakes her head but keeps smiling as Quon
Feng slowly slips off her panties.
“You
get off now.”
As he buried his
face and head into her dress, all the information woman did for the next
several minutes was grip the sides of her counter as if she was holding for
dear life off a cliff. Moans every so often escaped her lips as customers
continued to pass or talk with her; unaware of her guest and her ecstasy.

2.
Seraph sighed as
he ran a hand through his dark brown, almost black, hair that was faded on his
head as he took his first steps outside of the police station, noticing the sun
beginning to rise in the east. Seraph wearily rubbed his eyes at the sprinkles
of clouds in the sky as the sunlight pierced through them. He looked around,
realizing that he is either taking a bus or walking to his apartment. No. They
had made it into a crime scene and even though he was assured by Detective
Graves that they had cleared out the body, it was still taped up.
“Perfect.
I don’t have a bed for a day or so . . .” Seraph was figuring as to where to go
when suddenly he felt a pat on the back that startled him for a moment.
With
a smile that looked foreign to his face, Graves
chirped, “Morning Seraph. I can call you that right?”
Seraph
sighed, “Since I just met you last night, no.”
“Aww,
c’mon now. We’re buddies now. Not like you got nothing to hide. We seen it all
last night, right?” Graves commented with a
hint of laughter in his voice.
Seraph
remembering that he had been completely naked when Graves ,
his partner and the EMTs had shown up, turning a bright red while pouting his
lips. Seraph exhaled a hard breath then
turned away from Detective Graves; which he had noticed that the officer was
now changed into a pair of black sweats and a long sleeved white shirt that
showed off the thick, muscular chest on the officer. Seraph began to walk away
from the detective as Graves quickly hovered
over to his left. The two were walking down the sidewalk as they continued
their conversation.
“Where
are you off to anyway?” inquired Graves , still
with that odd smile on his face which slightly unnerved Seraph.
Seraph
took in the fragrances of strong manly cologne on Graves ’
person which made him more attractive to him than he already was. Seraph also
noticed the small group of hair that stick from his color; nothing that Graves must have a hair chest. Still, Seraph plainly
stated, “Not sure but most likely a hotel.”
“I
can understand but we will get through the crime scene as quickly as possible,”
explained the detective, making sure he matched the speed of Seraph, no matter
how he walked. If Seraph was walking briskly, Graves
was right there with him. If Seraph was walking slow, Graves
slowed down; not once as they passed five blocks that Seraph loose his
‘company.’ Seraph gave a quick groan as he shifted his gaze back at the officer
after minutes of silence.
“What
do you want from me or is this your way of performing police work; stalking
people instead of following leads?”
“This
could be considered harassment, officer.”
Seraph
rolled his eyes in annoyance. “You’ve been following me for over 8 blocks.”
Seraph
entered a walkway to McDuffie
Park , the largest park in
the city. As the marble walkway shot through fields of flowers, trees, park
huts, picnic tables and playgrounds, Seraph was continuously tagged by the
officer. Seraph turned to him, “You really aren’t going to stop following me?”
“Considering
you are the only lead to what happened to that old man . . . probably not. And
you can’t blame me considering that someone threw him through your window,”
answered Graves flatly. He pointed to a large
stage at the middle of the park where the walkway they are stomping through
leads to; intersecting with others. There were a few joggers running around and
some walkers, dressed for work. Other than that, the park seemed empty. Seraph
shook his head in frustration. “You’ve got time to kill. Why not just relax?
Let’s get some breakfast. Where else are you going to go?”
Seraph
pouted as he thought to himself, ‘Okay.
This sucks. He’s like all up near me . . . which is actually kind of fine cause
he’s freakin’ hot! But, I kinda want to be alone so I can get some more sleep.
Still, he’s got a point. Everyone else is either at work or asleep; so I can’t
really crash right now. I can always hit a hotel but damn it . . . I am
starving.’ “Alright. If I go to breakfast, will you leave me alone
afterward?”
“Were
you not paying attention to what I just said?” repeated Graves ,
getting serious for a moment. “You are my only lead. And since I am pretty sure
you didn’t kill the guy, we need to watch you like a hawk.”
“Don’t
you have a wife to go home to?” Seraph asked; partially curious as to why this
officer took such a personal interest in him and for the fact that Seraph had
his own interest in Officer Graves.
“You
paying?” Seraph’s eyebrow arched with his question, seemingly low on cash until
his next unemployment payment in 2 days.
“Actually
it does,” Seraph gave off his own smile, not feeling apprehensive at the
moment. “Now to choose the most expensive place to eat.”
“Boy,
you must be a lousy date.” Graves turned to an
intersecting path on his left. Seraph paused for a moment at Graves ’
comment then proceeded to walk. Seraph
pouted again then followed the officer. His lips grew into a smile as he
wondered along with Graves , delighted to spend
time with him.

3.
Inside a large
base, the halls were white, silver and grey to show how sterile the place was.
Military officers were walking along; all of them heavily armed with a few
doctors in lab coats walked along a long corridor till they reached large,
heavy steal doors. Two of the three doctors with the armed escort all kneeled
down and had their retina scanned by modules; one older main with snow white
hair to the left of the door; another man who was bald, who had tanned skin and
dark eyes on the right of the door. Finally, a final scanner came up from the
floor in the center to the lone female doctor, with mocha skin and long brown
and blonde hair.
The
female doctor, Dr. Claire Jefferson, spoke with a hard, strong voice, “Retina
scan, senior doctors initiate.”
The
white haired doctor stated, “Daniel Van Helsing! Alpha, unlocked.”
The
second doctor replied, “Amil Bryant! Beta, unlocked.”
Claire
then stated, “Claire Jefferson. Omega, unlocked. Entry into The Hive. Delta-21-
Theta – Zephyr.”
Suddenly,
the doors locks began to spin. With a hiss and slight smoke, the doors slowly
creaked open as the thunder of the final locks falling back hit the air. Suddenly, the giant, football stadium sized
room revealed itself. Large amounts of monitors, stairways and consoles were
filling the room. There was a center walk way toward a main platform in which
all others stations were connected to. As the three doctors along with the
soldiers that escorted them made their way to the central platform; tubes of
yellow and black sprinkled their path along side computer terminals and
hallways. As a matter of fact, the entire “Hive” was colored mostly black and
yellow.
The
sound of metal begin pounded by either feet or fingers filled the air alongside
all kids of transmissions. As the doctors passed the tubes, the soldiers
snickered or sneered at the objects floating in the tubes. The creatures were
seemingly both avian and humanoid. They had long legs that seemed to be covered
in scales instead of skin with three or four talons on their feet instead of
toes. They were decorated with silver feathers that were accented with either white
or black. Their arms stretched long as did their wings which were attached to
those arms. Their bodies either seemed either very stocky with large chests or
very petite. Yet, they all had heads that seemed a mixture of both human and
bird. Oddly enough, these beings had beaks instead of mouths and nostrils on
top of their beaks. Dr. Jefferson gave a slight smirk as she passed by them.
When they reached the platform, they were greeted by two beings: A stocky man
wearing a green jacket and slacks with multiple command badges on him. The
other as a humanoid being who was aquamarine in skin color. On his body were
wires of call kinds, connected to many of the consoles within The Hive.
The
aquamarine being stated in smooth, almost monotone voice, “Greetings Doctor
Claire Jefferson. We have been eagerly awaiting your arrival.”
“He
ain’t kidding,” the military man had added quickly as he patted his side
impatiently. “You were supposed to be here nearly 30 minutes ago.”
“I
am sorry for our tardiness General Ewing. But between the 2 portals that opened
last night, my team hasn’t slept doing readings and spectra analysis. And
personally General, you can kiss my ass if you think I am gonna just hop when
you say so.” The tone from Dr. Jefferson’s voice was rough, with edge but
sincere. Dr. Jefferson turned over to the Aquamarine being. “How are you
holding up Cypher?”
“Over
all well. The data our agents on the field have given us has been useful. From
the readings, the first portal matches the portal energy signature from a week
ago,” the being known as Cypher described to the group of doctors and soldiers.
General Ewing quickly slid into Dr. Jefferson’s field of vision, barking at her
in anger.
“You
got a lot of nerve lady. I am in command of the Hive, as per orders from the
higher ups. And you better learn to respect my authority or I will deny you
access to this . . .”
Dr.
Jefferson chuckled at the General. “You can’t deny me to shit.” From her lab
coat, Claire had pulled out a special medallion. “No one in this country can
deny me from shit!”
General
Ewing’s eyes stepped back in surprise. “That metal. But that’s not possible.”
“Oh
it is, General,” began the feisty Dr. Jefferson. “You know what that medal
means. And if my last name wasn’t a hint, figure out who the fuck I am related
to. In this country, I am royalty. So why don’t you get your white ass out of
my face before I kick it.”
The
General grimaced in frustration as Dr. Jefferson turned to Cypher. “The portal
activity has heighten on schedule after all.”
“Yes.
According to the Kalique’s data tracks, the prophecy states that The Redeemers
newest genesis is starting to occur. The title of King has passed to a new King.
And from what I can decode from the data tracks, the King is the key to the
formation of The Redeemers.”
Dr.
Jefferson paused at that while Dr. Van Helsing and Dr. Bryant were gazing upon
readings on individual consoles. Dr. Van Helsing glanced at some information
after typing some special codes. He gasped.
“We
have a problem, Dr. Jefferson. It seems that another portal will soon emerge
from the energy readings,” answered the white haired doctor.
“Where?”
Cypher
quickly answered Dr. Jefferson’s question. “Actually 5 miles away from the last
portal.”
“It
seems that things are really starting to bloom in our field, ey?” Dr. Jefferson
smirked at Dr. Van Helsing’s answer to her. Dr. Jefferson felt anxiousness
crawl up from the pit of her stomach.
Dr.
Jefferson quickly turned to the soldiers that accompanied her. “Get on a plane
and get to that location. Track down our visitors and bring their asses back
here.”
General
Ewing quickly got in front of the soldiers, rage blowing out of his ears like
ready boiled tea. “That is enough! You will not follow her orders. You follow
the change of command here. And I am your superior officer. And first, I want
you to arrest this bitch.”
A
lone soldier replied, “On what charge sir.”
“Treason.
What she is doing is using you and this facility as she sees fit. And only two
other people besides me who can order you out like that. Now I . . .”
Dr.
Jefferson shook her head then turned to Cypher. “ How long has it been since I ordered the death of Director
Grimes?”
“25.5
hours ago, Dr. Jefferson.” Cypher’s voice had echoed with a frighteningly calm
tone that had instilled fear amongst the soldiers and the general. After a
moment to let that fact sink in, Dr. Jefferson continued.
“And
under the security directives, who is now in charge?”
Cypher
gave the same frightening, calm voice as he answered, “Under the by laws of
Rule 15, Section Alpha 9, that would be you. The President has already given
his approval this morning at 5.00 hours.”
General
Ewing’s eyes widened as Dr. Jefferson smirked. General Ewing hands slowly
reached for a gun that he had behind him on his left side of his back when Dr.
Jefferson came closer to him.
“You
are crazy. I will report to the President of what you did and . . .” Ewing pulled out his gun from behind him as Dr. Jefferson
quickly took out a gun of her own; yet while General Ewing’s gun was a pistol
that had been modified; Dr. Jefferson’s gun was silver with slits on either
side of a pistol. Dr. Jefferson pressed the trigger of this oddly shaped
weapon, hitting General Ewing hard with a blast.
General
Ewing as he felt the flesh of his stomach began to tear like a hot knife
through butter. His lower intestines were shattered and shredded till a hole
was revealed on the other side of General Ewing. The screams of sheer agony
were cut off as the General’s now dead body plopped onto the steel grate like
mesh of the floor. Each soldier stood on nervously as it happened. Dr.
Jefferson walked over to kick General Ewing down the walkway a little. She then
turned to the soldiers.
“It
is impressive what happens when a human being gets a hold of extraterrestrial
technology which used air as a weapon. That being said, I will not stand for
any kind of disloyalty in my ranks. As was stated, I am now director of Area
51. Now, I have given you orders. Head to the location of that portal and start
tracking cause I am interested in what will be emerging from it and getting a lead on
whoever King is. Any mentions of what just happened to anyone else, Cypher will
active the nanite bombs that were mixed with your food within the last few
days. Are we clear?”
Every
single soldier replied in unison, “Yes, Director!”
“Good.
Soldiers, to the hangar in five minutes. Bryant will be accompanying you. I
want whatever is coming out of that portal found and brought back here.
Dismissed.”
Dr.
Jefferson turned to her compatriots and Cypher as the dead body of General
Ewing lay not far from them. As the soldiers side stepped the corpse, Bryant
walked over and began to drag it to the left.
“I
am going to be busy for a while,” Dr. Bryant stated then continued to walk off while
dragging the body of General Ewing with him.
“Doesn’t
take much to keep Amil happy, ey?” asked Dr. Van Helsing.
Dr.
Jefferson smirked, “No, it does not. Let’s make sure we keep it working to our
advantage. We have to find where this so called King is. And the sooner we do
it, the better off we will all be.”
Next: More Hunters after the Redeemers. More Redeemers awaken. And Seraph and Graves meet their first challenge.

The Redeemers # 1 : The New Born King

Issue #1
February 2013
The New Born King
Rated PG-13
Created & Written by Frankie Rodriguez
All characters are the property of Frankie Rodriguez. Any likeness is purely coincidental. This is an updated version.
As the smell of burnt human flesh and melted glass crashed through his apartment window, Seraph Summers had awakened not a happy man. His light brown skinned body had twirled away from the shower of broken glass and the incoming torrent of flame that encase what seemed to be, in Seraph’s eyes, a tall man. The fire had nearly engulfed the man entirely as Seraph unwrapped the sheet that he clinged to his naked body as he moved away. Seraph quickly blanketed the burning man, hoping that it will help put out the flames. The burning man turned around 3 more rotations till he crashed against the door of Seraph’s nicely decorated bedroom on the seventh floor of his apartment building. After the third rotation, the burning man had stopped the fire on his flesh and clothes; locked in the embrace of the once maroon, now maroon and . . . soot blanket.
Seraph quickly crawled to the now not-so burning man while grabbing his cell phone; entering 911 as he continued to check on his unexpected visitor. There were at least two rings that past. Seraph gazed at the man; noticing that his face was somewhat burnt but not as badly as the rest of his body could have been. Seraph sighed as the third ring passed.
“Can you talk? Are you awake?” Seraph stated.
The former burning man moaned painfully, sounding like the wail of a ghost from an actual scary film. Seraph’s brow furred for a moment as he began to stand up.
“You gotta be in a lot of pain. Just hang in there,” as the fifth ring passed on his cellphone, Seraph continued to talk with a soothing voice. “The ambulance will come and they will fix you right up and then I can find out why the hell you crashed through my window doing your best Human Torch impression.”
Seraph was a proud nerd but this was not the time to think of such things. The burning man revealed his left arm; his hand mostly burnt with the flesh gone in several of his fingers and some blood slightly dripping. The burning man, even though he is not burning anymore, stretched out his hand and opened the palm.
“What are you trying to tell me? Try to save your strength but can you possibly tell me your name or anything that happened?” Seraph inquired, as he felt a draft that danced on his back, down between his legs as he tightened his butt a little from the cool, spring air. Seraph then yelped for a moment, realizing why he was cold.
“Oh geez! I am sure, sir. I didn’t . . . expect a man to come through my window. My door maybe if he was invited but not through my window into my bedroom and I sleep naked and you are seeing my dick and . . .”
A female voice as started chiming in. “Hello, This is 911. What is your situation? Does it have to do with your penis?”
Seraph shook his head, not realizing that 911 finally picked up. “Um . . .no. No. This isn’t for me. This is for this guy who crashed through my window.”
“Is he suffering any broken bones? What is his name and where are you located?” The questions spat out of the operator almost as it she were a robot who had no life.
“I am not sure cause he can barely speak cause when he crashed through my window, he was on fire. I live on 236 McDowell Street, Apt 717 ,” Seraph spoke with urgency. “He was burnt pretty badly and I doubt the crash did him any good. So you’d better hurry.”
“Ok sir. I am dispatching an ambulance and the police to your location stat. And you are?”
“Seraph Summers. No relation to the guy on my floor. Please hurry.” There was a quick click after Seraph’s final word to the operator as he then gazed at the outstretched hand of the being formerly known as the burning man; well, in Seraph’s mind anyway.
“What are you . . .?”
The raspy voice was both gravely but filled with some kind of phlegm, or possibly blood thought Seraph, considering that the man was burnt alive. “Please . . .after . . . so much . . . and so . . . long . . . finally found . . . you.”
“Wait. What?” Seraph was extremely confused as he gazed at a silver object in the deep fried hand of this man on his floor.
“You . . . are . . . the first. You . . . are . . .king.” Every word was left out with a pain that Seraph could not only hear but feel as the man on his floor struggled to get those words out.
“King? What do you mean? You were deliberately crashing through my window. Why the hell for?” Seraph was very, very confused by all this as he kneed closer to the man without touching him.
The man moaned again in pain as phlegm, vomit and blood shot through his mouth, brimming over like lava in an erupting volcano. After that cleared, the man quickly said his final words. “You . . . are the . . . King. Find . . . the other . . .six. Take . . . the Eye. And beware . . . cause they are . . . all . . .coming.”
With that, the man’s arm dropped while his eyes closed. Seraph fearfully looked at the man when he noticed booming against his door.
“Mr. Summers! It’s the police with some EMTs. Hurry to the door please!” the voice behind that command was gruff and authoritative. Seraph gazed at the metal object, snatching it in his hands. The young man sprinted to his door; unlocking the 3 locks on it to allow the police officers and EMTs to head to the burning man.
“He just lost consciousness! Hurry! He’s in my bedroom!”
Seraph gripped tightly the metal object that man dropped to the ground. He felt jolts of energy filling his body but was not concerned about them at the moment as the two police officers glared at Seraph up and down.
“Um . . . Sir. We are gonna ask you some questions,” the voice from just seconds ago behind the door now belonged to the face of a tall, stocky black police officer in a form fitting shirt and a bald head with a beard. His partner was a slightly younger looking white cop with red hair and a crew cut with a long sleeved shirt. “But um . . . could you put on some clothes first?”
Seraph turned bright red after giving a quick look down. His naked body for all to see was being showcased to ever person in his house. Luckily, the EMTs were concentrating on the old man, thought Seraph; but Lord, is this embarrassing.
“Yeah. Sure.” Seraph quickly side-stepped the EMTs as they checked over the body while he got dressed, throwing on a pair of blue jeans, some white socks and a navy blue shirt with white and black inking of a cross and 12 angel wings on it. Seraph spun around to head to the police officers; who had followed him to just outside the room when one of the EMTs, a short, pudgy man gave his final diagnosis.
“This man didn’t make it. He’s gone.”
The black, stocky police detective named Carver Graves turned to Seraph. In his hand, the metal object with an eye carved into it began to glow yellow for a moment then stopped. Officer Graves’ eyebrow pointed up for a minute while glancing at Seraph, who was drying tears that welled in his eyes. “Mr. Summers, you will be having to come with us.” Graves turned to his partner. “Brown, you stay here till reinforcements so we can close off the scene.”
Seraph sighed as he thought to himself, You know, this never happens to Batman. Heck even Spidey gets off easier . . .maybe not.
As Seraph followed Officer Graves out, Officer Brown and the EMTs are beginning to cover the scene till forensics and detectives arrive. In his hand, the metal eye glowed yellow again, filling Seraph with a surge as he left his apartment with some shoes and a final thought..
This is gonna be a long night.

Her name was Jannie Waltkins. She was an EMT that was supposed to be working tonight. Yet, her last gasps of breath leave her as my hands. Jannie Waltkins took her last breath as I choked her. She falls to the ground, her head banging on the asphalt and piss that litered this corner. I take a deep breath.
Long ago, I used to have my own destiny. But then I kept hearing voices. Over and over and over again. Voices were calling out to me. Some were beautiful, enchanting voices. Others were gritty, dirty... angry voices. All of them told me that my life was not my own on that day. And that was in the middle of making love to my wife. Then the voices came ... I thought these were tricks by people who long wanted me dead.
Fact of the matter was, that day ended everything for me. I stopped making love to my wife and saw her eyes ... those eyes.
The body of Jannie Waltkins began to twists and turn but seemingly, like her mind was not controlling her body by something else. Suddenly, red liquor metal sprang forth from her belly button, her mouth spat out the red mercury that slowly filled her body. Jannie Waltkin's body was changing before her eyes. A sigil lit up on the man's forehead.
This became my destiny. To murder people that were already dead ... to kill beings not of this Earth ... or this dimension. My name was Daryl Grayson.
Daryl took out a gun of odd steampunk design with a large sapphire in the middle of this. He aimed it at the mess.
"Didn't want your bullshit in the first place. So, go the fuck home or to hell."
Daryl shoots of red mercury that was now taking a new shape. The bright blue blasts incinerates the being.
I am now just the Requiem Knight. And I know the Redeemers are coming.

NEXT MONTH: The World Gets a Little Crazier With Aliens, Area 51 & a mysterious wanderer.
Letter to the Fans:
What you hold here is the beginning. Not just the story of the Redeemers. But for the biggest reason why the Broken Infinite got started. When I sat with Broken Infinite writers Darryll "YTC" Carter, Jeremias de Leon and Hector Ramirez, we wanted to build a new and exciting place for our writing to shine while we saved up to make comics. Yes, our ultimate goal is comics. And Oddly enough, we are not alone in this. New ideas come from many different places. And this is one we thought would be a great idea.
So, the three of us plotted and planned how to build this new idea. And as the J1 Studios site transformed, we needed a different arena to tell the stories WE want to tell. Make no mistake. These stories will be filled with action, adventure, murder, mystery and sometimes, gore. This is where we won't have many limits.
As the three of us came up with characters, the Broken Infinite seemed to come together. So, CBC evolved. Alongside Eric McLeod, Jeremias de Leon, Jake Estrada and Jeff Williams, CBC died and we started, The Broken Infinite. As this site was planned, we started with 3 launch titles, now, we are gonna have at least 5 titles. The Redeemers was first chosen because I wanted to start off with a story to say that we're here; we understand you but this is gonna be a little different from the norm. As the Redeemers come together, you will find that this group has a very interesting destiny. And that is a plot point.
The other titles coming up include Oni, Silver Thorn, Perception and 2 other mystery titles. And While there will be several titles that are in a shared universe, we will also have a separate imprint for titles that are not a part of the main Broken Infinite universe. So welcome. Break the monotony! Break the creative wall! Break the Cycle! Welcome to the Broken Infinite. It's gonna be a hell of a ride.

PS. I know this is a re-release. It has a new scene and the Redeemers are now part of the Shared BI Universe. See You Next Month.

Several
miles away, a red swirling hole of energy just popped up onto of a large
skyscraper, over looking the city that Seraph is a part of. From the Red
swirling hole, two figures pop out of it. Both dressed head to toe in black
leather suits, but with different accents in each. The first, which was male,
was accented with green. The second, a female, was accented in light blue. The
female black garbed being walked forward; in her hands a bronze colored device
that was square, with a screen and some buttons on the bottom had entered her
hands.
“We
have come a long, long way,” stated the female, her voice dripping with venom.
“The new king is here.”
The
man, who seemed to stand a full foot taller than the female, had marched over
to her left flank. His hulking body was easy to see in these black leather
outfits that covered all but their heads. Their faces were obscured by obsidian
helmets. The woman spoke again with frustration.
“We
had nearly finished this. We almost succeeded in ending the Redeemers forever.”
The
man commented as he gazed out to the city. “The prophecy stated that their time
was coming. We killed all the old candidates. Why would Ulthor come here?”
The
pair marched at the edge of the skyscraper they were standing on top off when
the red swirling portal disappeared behind them. The woman slammed her fist
into her other hand.
“Ulthor
was burning to death. He was trying to find the next monarch.”
The
man replied, “But he just jumped into the well of infinity by chance. The only
reason we are tracking him was cause of . . .”
“Do
NOT say his name, Mordred. I hate that we have fallen in line with such a
beast.” The woman’s voice was even more frustrated than the previous sentences.
“Yet, he, like Ulthor, are not fools. Ulthor used the Eye in order to guide him
here. Ulthor may have found his prey.”
“So
the Next Monarch may have already been found. Interesting,” mused Mordred with
a hint of excitement.
“We
are not here for you to get off on beating the hell out of the Next Monarch. We
are here to prevent the prophecy that HE told us when we first met. And we
shall. The Redeemers will never come to pass. All we have to do is kill the
Monarch . . .”
Mordred
quickly finished the thought of his partner. “And the Redeemers will not exist;
saving our world.”
“Yes
my dear Mordred,” paused the woman clad in black leather. “It will save our
world . . . for us.”
With
her last words, Mordred and the woman known as Morgana, quickly jumped off the
top of the building and disappeared as a shadow covered them both; making it
seem as if they never existed.

The sun blasted
into the windows of a classic 50’s style dinner that Seraph and Graves found themselves dining in. Graves
comfortably sat as Seraph stretched out one of his legs as they awaited their
orders. The waitress who had taken their orders kept eyeing Graves ,
yet Seraph found that the police detective was not give her much attention.
Three looks from the waitress and Graves only
winked at her once after the third attempt of her looking at him. Seraph
chuckled inward, somewhat relieved that the police detective’s attention was on
him, not the big busty waitress who was in the back waiting for their
breakfast. Seraph glanced around the diner for a second time; nothing that he
and Graves were one of only 12 people in the
large diner. Their booth was nestled away from the other patrons and the few
staff. Graves then knocked on the table; quickly making his companion to snap
to.
“Hello? You awake
there Summers?” inquired Graves with his
oddly, creepy smile.
Seraph
shook his head to clear the cobwebs in his mind. His eyes connected with
Graves, gazing deeply into the vast ocean of greenish gray eyes that belonged
to the Carmel
brown detective that was continuously ravaging his thoughts. A moment later,
Seraph once again swung his head right and left. “I’m awake. Just tired. Will
be fine once I get food. So, besides you following me cause I am your only link
to your murder case, why are ‘you’ doing all this?”
“Cause
I’m hungry,” replied the police detective. Seraph was about to ask another
question but Graves beat him to it. “Why do
you think that man ended up going through your window?”
Seraph
rolled his eyes as this was literally the 20th time he has heard
this question since he met this man. “I have no frellin’ clue.”
“Half
Puerto Rican,” Seraph admitted. “Part Black, Part White and half Puerto Rican.
So I am a super mutt. And Frellin’ . . .” his voice lowered slightly, almost
embarrassed to admit the following. “is from one of my favorite TV Shows.”
“So
wait . . . you say a word from a TV show. What does it mean? And I am
interested in this whole super mutt thing,” Graves
lightly mocked his companion.
Seraph
groaned. “I just like the word so I use it instead of cussing. It is like fuck
or shit without saying fuck or shit. As for me being a super mutt, I have a
very diverse family tree. But mom was Puerto Rican, dad was black and white.
They got together and I popped out 9 painful months later.”
“Ah,
your mother had a difficult pregnancy huh?” Graves
stated as he started to fiddle with the butter knife before him while waiting
for Seraph’s answer.
The
waitress had came around with their drinks just after Graves finished his
question, laying a coffee cup on Graves’ side and a large drink of apple juice
on Seraph’s side. A straw was dropped to the left of Seraph’s juice which
Seraph happily opened and began to drink his juice. The waitress quickly waved
a hand through her hair as she gazed at Graves .
Seraph turned his eyes on the waitress, his thoughts screaming in his head.
‘Oh no bitch. I saw him first. Wait . . . what
the hell am I saying?’
The
waitress’s voice was sweet as she offered while looking directly at Graves . “Coffee is nice, fresh and hot. Is there anything
else I can get you boys while waiting?”
“Nah.
We’re good for the moment but we’ll let you know,” Graves
offered, giving his smile to the waitress.
The
waitress was not bothered by the smile and winked at Graves .
She turned to walk away, letting the detective sigh.
“You
loved that didn’t you?” inquired Seraph as he took another sip of his juice.
“For
nearly every damn day of my life till she passed away,” Seraph remarked then
glanced down.
“Yeah.
I know. Still, I can hear her say ‘After all the pain I went through to get you
into this world after nearly 29 hours of labor.’ She would never let me forget
that.”
“Probably
cause of your big head,” Graves teased then
took a sip of his coffee. “You were probably a big baby.”
Seraph
began to pout again. ‘Oh my god. What a
jackass. Just pressing my buttons.’ He let out a breath. “I wasn’t that big
but you must have had problems getting you through with your big feet.”
“Like
I didn’t notice your big ass elephant feet in your clown shoes.”
“You
started this little game,” Seraph stated, taking another sweet tasted of the
apple juice in his large glass. “So you wanna keep this up Homey?”
“You
couldn’t take me on your best day, Summers,” proclaimed Graves
confidently as he flashed his smile again.
“You
just think cause you are fine that I am gonna fall for your jedi mind tricks,”
Seraph shot back, folding his arms. ‘Wait
. . . I just said that I thought he was fine out loud. Oh fuck me.’
“Why
I appreciate the compliment Summers,” Graves
comments smoothly, not a hint of worry, surprise or anger in his voice;
speaking as he normally did. “It is hard for me to move in these big clown feet
but didn’t stop you from thinking I’m fine.”
“Well
. . . I mean . . .” Seraph blurbed out, stuttering in embarrassment.
“It
is fine. Women and Men often tell me I am attractive,” Graves
answer was stated in a matter of fact manner. Graves
glanced at Seraph, whose cheeks were starting to resemble that of Santa
Claus’s.
‘Of course they say how fine you are. You are
freakin’ gorgeous. I just am another one
of your groupies.’
Seraph’s
thoughts were cut off by Graves ’ next
statement. “But none of them were nearly as attractive as you.”
Seraph
was taking drink to calm himself down while he listened to Graves
only to project his apple juice onto the window to the left of him. Some of the
patrons and other waitresses and waiters glance at their table after.
“Wasn’t
expect that, were you?” Graves asked Seraph, locking eyes with him. Seraph began
stammering so much he sounded like Porky Pig.
‘Oh my God! He finds me attractive. I should
say something instead of doing my best Woody Woodpecker impression. But I think
calling him a Caramel God would be a bit much. I have to ask him why he thinks
I am attractive. And, most importantly, when does he want our wedding?’
Seraph’s thoughts danced in his brain only to be stopped by Graves ’
next question.
“So
when are you gonna tell me about that silver, triangle medallion that you’ve
been holding on to since we found you?”
Seraph’s
heart sank. ‘This whole conversation was
a diversion. A diversion I fell for. Damn it. I didn’t think people could
notice that I’m gay, not that I care that much.’ “How did you know that I .
. .”
“Had
that pendent? Please, I noticed it earlier. Luckily for you, I am the only one
who noticed that you had it. Figured it might be something that I can use to
track down the bastard that threw our victim through your window. So, that is
mainly way I am with you right now?”
Seraph
sighed as his embarrassment brought his eyes to look at Graves ;
his eyes full of fire with a mix of disappointment and anger. “Why the
deception? Why did you flirt with me just now? How did you even know that I . .
.?”
“I
was fuckin’ naked,” ripped Seraph with a hint of edge in his voice; gaining a
feeling of humiliation he had not known since he was in high school when Ishawn
Sosa had pulled down his pants during his class presentation.
“Yes
but even that, you were comfortable with that till I mentioned it. Then you got
all bashful.”
Seraph
hissed after taking the last bits of his apple juice, “You are an asshole.”
“Aw.
Be still my breaking heart. I am trying to solve a murder and that little token
may very well be a clue,” Graves answered
sternly. Folding his arms, Graves then
commanded, “Hand it over.”
Seraph
dug in the left side of his pocket as his frustration and embarrassment were
all but apparent. As he brought out the pyramid-like object with an eye
engraved on it. As the waitress came over with the large tray containing their
breakfast, Graves picked the object from
Seraph’s hands, examining it.
The
waitress merely dropped Seraph’s platter, an omelets with cheese on top with
sausage and salsa within; only to then carefully put down the plate of Graves ’ food, which was waffles with a side of bacon. The
waitress opened the syrup, cheerfully asking if Graves
wanted any. Seraph rolled his eyes; partially in disgust of how she was
throwing herself at the officer and partially to his own jealousy. After a
quick nod, the waitress bent over, allowing her cleave to nearly slip away from
their cloth imprisonment in front of Graves’ face who chuckled. Seraph’s face
was nearly bright red once more; yet this time anger was the shade of this red.
Graves noticed this only to quickly reach out
with his left hand, grabbing Seraph’s. The waitress stepped back in shock while
Seraph’s eyes began to bulge.
‘Oh
my God. What the hell is he doing?! Oh god. His hand feels soooo good,’ thought
the 30 year old Seraph.
“What
the hell is this?!” exclaimed the waitress in disbelief.
“What
does it look like? I’m having breakfast with my boyfriend,” responded Graves without a hint of laughter.
‘Did he just say . . . that I was . . . his
boyfriend?’ Seraph’s eyes were nearly ready to explode onto the table. ‘I
think I died and gone to heaven.’
“Oh
no! You are too fine to be a faggot. Listen, sweetie. You are just confused.
You haven’t had good pussy before and I am more than happy to give you some so
you can be with who you are meant to be with. Not this piece of ,” quoted the
waitress with an air of arrogance and entitlement that would make Paris Hilton
and Kanye West look tame. Graves was prepared
to answer when suddenly a loud bang as the window shattered. Suddenly, blood
fell as a three pronged hook embedded itself on the waitress’s forehead. Graves
and Seraph quickly turned to their left, gazing out the window as the
waitress’s body was pulled through it and into what seemed to be a crimson
vortex. As lightning shot through the vortex, a floating hovercraft was visible
through the vortex.
As the vortex came
through, Graves and Seraph could see two
beings riding on them. They had were covered in some kind of bronze-hued armor
while their skin was the color of an almost aquamarine in type. Both figures
had lean bodies that would make most fitness buffs jealous at their perfect
level of muscle and weight. Their arms seemed to have large gauntlets that had
barrels and points protruding from them. Their eyes were blacker than obsidian
found in the dark side of the moon. One was female with long hair that seemed
to be made of cable wire than just sheered downward, with light sparks pulsing
at some of her ends. Her breast, even with armor on, were bountiful. The male on the other hand was bald. His
armor a little heavier and his right arm out as he pulled the body of the
waitress towards him and threw it onto the vortex. The vortex closed behind him
as the female jumped down from what seemed to be a hoverboard.
The female opened
a small panel on her right gauntlet, revealing a keyboard. Her face cold and
near expressionless at first suddenly turned manic with a joy that can only be
seen in kids on Christmas Morning or murders who take joy in their killings. “I
am Narohon! We are here for the King!”
Narohon looked
directly into the eyes of Seraph as she slowly stalked forward. Seraph was
paralyzed for a moment after that proclamation as Graves
was about to reveal his gun with his right hand; never noticing the gold glow
coming from his left hand which held the Eye.
----
3.
A
signal flashed red on his gauntlet as the beam pulsated on and off, over and
over again. Another blue man, this time with red hair with silver on his left
like a stripe, brought up his gauntlet to his chest and gave a smirk that
shined his sharp, crème teeth. His armor was gold and silver with black pants
and undershirt. His powerful arms flexed as he brought up a long, large bladed
sword on his other hand. His void-hued yes gazed upon his companion, who looked
like him but not as muscular and with silver and bronze armor and with blonde
hair.
“I
am picking up signals from designates Bamepehiel and Narohon have arrived from Citdel World. They
succeeded in cross over and finding The Redeemer designated King,” the
red-haired being know as Ozasiel proclaimed. “We must join them and kill this
new King immediately.”
The
blonde, blue skinned being known as Zotaruukreh replied, “I thought after
dealing with the previous King would have stopped this one from emerging. And
knowing those two, they will kill and destroy this entire city in order to kill
off the new King. We must prevent that.”
“You are a
Tencyhi’ Siber, Zotaruukreh. You are ordered to kill the King. The Chaos Mind
reported that the best way to stop the Final War in our dimension from
occurring is to kill the Redeemers. Once we kill this King and destroy the Eye,
the Redeemers will Never be again,” commented Ozasiel with a dead calm.
Zotaruukreh
grunted in disgust. “Our duty does not mean the destruction of that many people
Ozasiel. It is illogical and waste of resources.”
“And that
is where we differ, Zotaruukreh. We are those who bring order. We are those who
will save our dimension. Our order is what saves our dimensions from war, diseases
and famine. We must ensure it and the quickest and most thorough way of doing
so would be to destroy the city if need be. Once this city is destroyed, the
King will be dead and the billions upon billions of life we protect will be
saved. Yet . . . if it will put you at ease, we will not go for that plan yet.”
Zotaruukreh
shivered by Ozasiel’s words. The blonde Tencyhi’ Siber commented, “Thank you.
We do not need to waste our resources if we are engaging the enemy at close
proximity.”
Qzasiel
nodded then took a step forward. “It is time. It is time we end the Redeemers
and save all universes from them.”
Inside the
abandoned building they stood in, Ozasiel turned around. As he exited the
building, Zotaruukreh stayed behind for a moment.
“By the
Creator, let this course be the right one.”
With those
last words, Zotaruukreh clenched his fists then ran off after Ozasiel;
preparing to join their comrades in battle against their target; Seraph
Summers.

Riley Raymond was sprinting
down an alleyway. The sweat beading down his face as he zigged and zagged through
a group of alleys. Riley was running. He was running. Running from two people. Riley stopped for a moment, giving quick glances behind him and either way as he made it into a cross path. Riley wiped the sweat on his dark brown brow with his arm as he breathed hard. “Ah … I … seem to have lost them.”
Riley put
his hands to his knees while catching his breathe. Yet, as he looked forward,
he could see a translucent figure ahead. It was a shape of a woman.
Morgana had teleported in fully; giving
Riley a dark smirk.
“Damn! I am usually into fine ass women chasing me but for you, I’ll make an exception,” Riley stated as he was about to turn around. As Riley did, he froze at the site of Mordred behind him.
“You are not going anywhere … Bishop,” proclaimed Mordred
“Um … Bishop ja nai. Watashi wa Riley,” Riley introduced himself to the helmeted figures in Japanese. Morgana took her scanner on her arm and pressed some buttons.
“Oh … you are indeed the Bishop of the Redeemers. Well … you were. Do you know about the New King?” Morgana had began her question as she walked toward Riley.
Riley smirked nervously. “Look. I’m not this Bishop dude. I’m not an X-Man. For God’s sake, no super heroes exist in this world. No one has super powers … except for maybe you two. Obviously, you got me confused with someone you guys know back from wherever the hell you came from. So if you don’t mind …”

Mordred
punched the wall of one building as he stomped towards Riley; breaking bricks,
mortar and wood as his arm broke through it like a child breaking paper.
“Silence! You will be destroyed. We shall kill you and the King and the
Redeemers shall never come.”
Riley turned to his left but trips over a trash can in the alleyway. As Riley struck the hard tarmack, his face gazes upon the remains of a now dead pitbull; who looked as if it was shot and beaten to death. “Ah fuck!”
Morgana and Mordred meet up in the corner of the intersecting alleys. Morgana presses a button on her scanner and her helmet disappears; showing the features of Morgana fully. Her eyes were shining purple with gold eye liner. Her ears per pointy at the end with multiple piercings. Her nose was pierced with a simple sapphire while her lips full. And her hair .. her hair was blond with purple streaks. Her eyes locked at Riley.
“Your death shall come now … but not with out us sucking your power away.” Morgana began to point at Riley when he did the unthinkable.
Riley touched the dead, pitbull carcass. After doing so … the carcass comes to life and attacks Morgana. It’s jaws clenched down on Morgana’s left arm and tearing away from her suit. Morgana screamed, “Mordred !”

Yet,
before Mordred could get his hands on the dog, the reanimated pit bull began to
bite into his shoulder.
Riley took this chase to start running down the alley he fell on. The pit bulls green glowing eyes shining as he continued to bite down on Mordred’s shoulder. Morgana lifted her right hand and tapped the dog. Within seconds, the dead pit bull fell back down to the ground. As it hit the tarmack, the pit bull turned into nothing but ash.
Riley ran out of the alley and bumped into a figure. This figure was a female. Her skin was blue. Her red, fiery hair was a nice contrast to her skin. On her arms were glowing, yellow tattoos. On her face was a long gold stripe down her right eye. She wore red armor with silver accents. With a smooth movement, she brought Riley behind her.
The Tencyhi’ Siber warrior took out a hilt that has no blade. She stated, “Invoke the Divinity’s Fire!”
Suddenly, the hilt that the female Tencyhi’ Siber had grew a blade made of white hot fire and gold light. Morgana and Mordred came out of the alley, gazing at the being; Morgana’s helmet was back on.
Mordred barked, “Out of the way, lass. We’ve come for the Death Godling.”
Riley whisper aloud behind the Tencyhi’ Siber warrior, “Death Godling? What the hell?”

Morgana
added, “What manner of being are you? Not human, obviously.”
The
Tencyhi’ Siber warrior woman took her sword and pointed at the two. “I am a
Tencyhi’ Siber from the Citadel World. You are trying to kill one of the
proclaimed saviors . .. A Redeemer. That
will not happen.”
Morgana and Mordred began to move apart, flanking
Tencyhi’ Siber. “You know what we are doing,” Morgana started, “Which makes you
dangerous. We’ll have to kill you too then.”
“What is
it with you folks and wanting to kill people?!” exclaimed Riley, popping his
head up from behind his protector.
“The Bishop asked you a question. I am curious to the answer as well,” the Tencyhi’ Siber demanded.
Mordred chuckled then smacked his fist against the ground, creating several tremors at Riley and The Tencyhi’ Siber warrior. She quickly grabbed Riley and then opened her wings … which seem to be made of red and gold light. The four wings carried her and Riley off the ground; then the Tencyhi’ Siber warrior swiped up her sword, releasing several volleys of energy at the duo. Morgana and Mordred where thrown back. She then quickly flew away from the battle. Within minutes, the two had flown to the other side of the city where the Tencyhi’ Siber landed with Riley.
Riley went to his knees and kissed the ground. “Oh thank you God. I will never doubt you again.”

“God is
certainly always watching you Mr. Riley,” the blue-skinned, angelic warrior
woman stated.
Riley
winced a second. “Not that he wasn’t watching me before. But does that include
when I’m in the bathroom?”
The
Tencyhi’ Siber gazed at Riley oddly, not understanding his comment.
“It was a joke … mostly. I got a lot of questions but most importantly … What the hell is going on? Who the hell are you? What the hell are you?”

The
Tencyhi’ Siber gazed at Riley as she made the blade from her sword disappear
and sheathed her hilt. She took some of her red hair and pushed it away from
her eye. “ What is going on is that you are one of the chosen Redeemers; of the
many beings prophesied to bring about change. I am known as Puriel, a Tencyhi’
Siber of the Citadel World and the War
Clan of the Divine.”
Riley
mused at her answer. “Okay … Puriel. Still doesn’t answer what a Redeemer
really is and what’s that got to do with me? And why, all of the sudden, can I
bring dead animals to life!”
“You are
the Redeemer known to be The Bishop. You will help the King and bring peace to
the existence. As was foretold.”
Riley
folded his arms and cocked up an eyebrow. “Foretold by who? Miss Cleo?”
“By the
ancient texts from my people, Bishop.”
With a
sigh, Riley replied, “Riley. Call me Riley. And give me more background on the
Redeemers, this King and what I got to do with it.”
“I do not know everything. The King is the one who will be able to show us the way,” Puriel answered, looking around.
“The King huh? And who is this King?,” Riley asked as
Puriel froze for a minute. “I do not know everything. The King is the one who will be able to show us the way,” Puriel answered, looking around.
Puriel looked to him. “I am afraid you will find out sooner rather than later. We must go.”
“Go where?”
“To the King, Bishop. To the King before it is too late.”
NEXT MONTH: More Redeemers ...Seraph, Graves, Riley & Puriel vs. The Tencyhi' Siber! And what happens when Soldiers come a calling.
