Power Rangers Megaforce Knight Brothers Zords/ Gosei Ground Great Review

The Knight Brothers Zords are an interesting duo that actually looks good in all modes even if Bandai of America found a way to make a submarine fly.  Paint once again is a big issue since the fin pieces on top don't stick out well and at first I didn't even think they were there.  Another problem is that the header ports are strangely colored so they look weird when they help form Gosei Ground but at least they aren't noticeable in Gosei Ground Great mode. Its unfortunate that the staff was hindered due to the Dragon Mechazord's neck being stuck inside its body but at least good so I guess its not a huge loss.  Personally paint and questionable design choices aside the Knight Brothers are worth getting and I am glad that Bandai of America has gotten better since samurai.  This may sound redundant by now but at least they are doing a pretty good job with the resources they got.

Legend of Power, WEEK # 41: Racism & Douchebags in Red

Trip Takes A Stand
Power Rangers Time Force


            This week, it’s time for racism! Yay. Yep. We go with one of the first Ranger shows that deals with racism, Power Rangers Time Force. While the Time Force Rangers have been fighting mutants, we find out half way through the series, that there is a least 1 mutant isn’t what he …um …she … s/he seems. As soon as the mutant known as Notacon gets unfrozen by Frax, we find that he doesn’t want to hurt anyone. Frax tries to put some kind of control device on him but it does not work right away and Notacon escapes.

            As Notacon shows up in Silver Hills, we find that people are having a normal reaction to him … being scared; which is set up by the precedent of the series. Trip ends up finding him and helping him … much to the chagrin of Eric, the Quantum Ranger. Trip hids with Notacon who tells a tearful story that he own stole food to survive (deep stuff) and just wants to be frozen again.

            Meanwhile, as the Time Force defeats some Cyclobots looking for Notacon, Eric goes out of his way to get the Douchebag of the Year Award as he vows in front of the other 4 Time Force Rangers that he’ll not only kill Notacon but he’ll take down anyone in his way. Lucas reminds Eric that he’s out numbered. The Quantum Ranger responds with use his Quantum Defender to blast at their feet and disappear.

            Eric finds Trip and Notacon. Eric tells Trip to get out of the way. Trip though stands in front of Notacon just before Eric can fire his Quantum Defender. Trip goes on to Eric about just because someone is a mutant does not make them a bad person. (Preach on Trip!) Trip even goes as far as saying that if he’s gonna destroy Notacon for being different, he’s gonna have to do the same to him,showing his alien origin to Eric for the first time. Eric looks as if he’s about to relent as Frax’s device goes off. Notacon is out of control and gets giant. The Time Force Rangers spring into action but so does the Q-Rex. It looks like the Q-Rex plans to destroy Notacon but instead just holds on to the mutant so the other Time Force Rangers can destroy the mind control device. The Time Force grants Notacon’s wish to be frozen again.

            After the battle, Trip goes up to Eric saying he knew he wasn’t a bad guy. Eric, needing to be an asshole, says that he will destroy the mutants and take down anyone who gets in his way. The others comment on Eric being a jerk but Trip says that he’s not that way … just very … Lonely.

            So, in one foul swoop, this episode gives us a great confrontation between Eric and another Time Force Ranger that isn’t Wes or Jen, deal with racism, makes you question the motives and mental states of the previous mutants and fleshes out the lesson that being different does not mean bad at all. Standing up in what you believe in is also a very big lesson from this episode. We get some great acting, wonderful pacing and really good story in this episode.

            Why is this # 41? Cause the conflicts from Power Rangers Time Force are even better, as you will see Time Force again in this countdown. It is really a good episode. Still, it is a good episode that holds up, even today.

            I know. I know. I am hearing the groans, moans and hatred for this show from many fans already. Yet, every Power Rangers season is someone’s favorite … but it is not mine. That being said, Operation Overdrive had a few good gems in an otherwise mountain of crap as they raped one of my favorite Sentai shows. *sigh*

            I promised I wasn’t going to do this. I promised that I wasn’t gonna go in FAN BOY RAGE but seriously …Boukenger was so damn EPIC! It was GREAT  and Disney, you decided to take a massive shit all over it with a …

             . . . Okay. I’ll shut up about it. I do not often make comparison’s to the Sentai cause I find that ruins both sides of the coin for you. Operation Overdrive, in and of itself was HORRIBLE. Yet, like I mentioned earlier. There were a few gems.

            Chief among them was a twist that we had little clue and barely saw coming. In Things Not Said, the actors turned it up a notch for a very dramatic confrontation between father and son as we find out that Mack … Mack is an android. You see, his father said he didn’t have enough time to meet the right woman which lead to one of the best dramatic scenes in the franchises history.

            Mack’s emotions were authentic. The situation was out of left field but if you took a look back at older episodes, there were very vague clues. The rest of the cast, scans Dax (who was a horrible attempt to make a new Bridge but as a stuntman) cause he sucked, really helped convey the emotion of Mack dealing with his life being a lie. And not being alive at all. A very interesting twist handled extremely well. And that fact that they waited to the last 3^rd of the series made the revelation all the more impactful. Mack had felt real enough to the team and lead them. Will saying, “We’re brothers” really highlights the great writing, acting and directing done in this episode.

            As to why it’s # 43. 1 – It has Dax. 2 – the rest of the series only has a few more glimmers of acting this good. 3 – this is the best episode of the series. 4 – The twist and philosophical questions that came from it were handled extremely well. But yeah. Things Not Said comes in at # 43.  Well, till the next time, May the Power Protect You!

Cardfight Vanguard Card of the Week: 11/11/12

Cardfight Vanguard Card of the Week is back.

 And we start off the month of November with a great clan: the Dimension Police. With them and the Shadow Paladin cards having major releases in the US about a month from now, we here at the Broken Infinite believe it is time to go through one of those two clans. The Dimension Police is (for the most part) the clan that is the love letter for fans of Giant Robot series and Tokusatsu. This is the clan that is richly diverse and still has so much to offer. So, like last month, one Grade per week ... or just under a week since this is a little late but I digress.

Let's break it down.



    MONTH 2, WEEK 1
    CLAN: Dimension Police
    GRADE: 0
     CARD:Guide Dolphin


             Dimension Police are primarily used by Team Caesar in the Cardfight Vanguard Anime. It is also used by the mysterious King X during his battle with Aichi Sendou during the second season of the show. As started before, the Dimension police are inspired by the great Giant robot and Tokusatsu shows that inspired many kids: Including Kamen Rider and even Power Rangers. More proof of that will be seen during the month.

     Guide Dolphin is a Grade 0 stand trigger. If you want your units to get more attacks in the same turn, definitely have a few of these cards in your deck. Why? guide Dolphin is a trigger card with its own effect as well. The effect is that when you move this card into the soul, you can give a Dimension Police unit an extra 3000 attack. Any Dimension Police that is stand you can add power to it. That makes this a great support card. Plus, any Dimension Police cards that utilize the soul make this card a must have for your deck. Not bad with a dolphin with a headset.


 While this card won't be part of the next booster pack in December, it will be part of Awakening of Twin Blades in February internationally. So don't fret. You will get him soon.
